At random: Robert Fulton, inventor of the steamboat, was an avid submarine enthusiast. He built several submersible warships, one of which was known as the Nautilus.

Kind of reminds one of Soupy Sales and his discussion with Fang about what Soupy and his girlfriend did in the stands at the ballgame.

It's still on re-runs in Delaware on the Jewish TV channel. How about the one where they tricked Soupy with the naked model behind the door. Funny, that I again realized why I nicknamed my first daughter Pookie.

I don't know if I saw the original show of that but I did see it a few times on re-runs....very funny!

"My girlfriend can't make my lemon merengue pie, but she can sure make my banana cream." That one almost got him kicked off of television.

There were a few others where Soupy pushed the limits of "decency."

He was on 5-days a week in Los Angeles, and had a second national show on Friday.

I remember something about his girlfriend gave him a bust in the mouth.  I never watched him much, never got into his humor - seems I missed a lot.

Took his show a while to get up into our area. In the meanwhile we had developed our own regional shows. I did see a few of his shows but I didn't really care for it but I knew of people who really liked it.

Don't forget Benny Hill. He came on during dinner hour when I lived in LA.

He loved the good looking ladies.

A very funny but very sad man.
You would have never known from his TV show.
