At random: The first diesel engines built by Electric Boat for submarines were installed (1913) in the USS NAUTILUS and SEAWOLF, namesakes of the first nuclear powered submarines, also built by Electric Boat.

KIRKPATRICK, Max H., was born on October 29, 1940 and passed away on Tuesday, October 30, 2018. Max was a resident of New Prospect, Tennessee at the time of passing. Max proudly served in the US Navy submarine force for 17 years. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.


KUEHNE, George Ernest, 92, was born on March 2, 1926 and passed away on Thursday, November 1, 2018. George was a resident of Janesville, Wisconsin at the time of passing. George was a 1944 graduate of Janesville High School where he took pride in playing Center on the football team. George honorably served in the United States Navy on the submarine USS Tarpon (SS-175) [4/45-7/45] during World War II. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at Schneider Funeral Home & Crematory, with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be given to a charity of the donors choosing.


McFARLAND, James, was born on May 13, 1937 and passed away on Wednesday, October 31, 2018. James was a resident of Cleburne, Texas at the time of passing. James was retired from the US Navy and worked as a fire control technician on submarines during his time in the Navy.
