CHASTAIN, William, was born on December 11, 1938 and passed away on Friday, November 30, 2018. Mr. Chastain was a resident of Chickamauga, Georgia at the time of passing. He attended school at Chattanooga Valley and graduated from Bulls Gap High School, Class of 1956. He served his country in the US Navy from 1956 to 1960 on the submarine USS Odax (SS-484). The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm and Monday morning prior to the service at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm - Monday - December 3, 2018 in the chapel with Reverend: Barry Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Chickamauga Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to one of Bill's favorite charities: The Salvation Army, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or Chattanooga Food Bank.


DANIELSON, Daniel T., 79, died Monday, Nov. 19, 2018 at his residence in Poultney, Vt., after a brief illness. He was born July 26, 1939 in Somerville, N.J., the son of Olav and Helen (Classon) Danielson. Dan was a graduate of N.H.R.H.S. in Annandale, N.J., class of 1957. He and two friends made a pact to enlist in the U.S. Navy after graduation. He was assigned to the Nad Earl, which was a tug boat, while waiting to attend submarine school. He served during the Cold War. Dan worked with his father as a carpenter and later went to work at IBM and Skyline Corporation as the quality assurance manager, retiring in 2010. He was an avid motorcyclist with his wife, Linda, and a member of the South West Freedom Riders, enjoyed camping, reading, fixing things around the house and spending time with his family. Dan is survived by his wife Linda (House) Danielson, whom he married in 1984 in Poultney; his children, Cynthia Ann Flagg and husband, Mark of North Clarendon, Vt.; Thomas Danielson and wife Jo of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Christopher Danielson and wife Kelly of Easton, Pa.; his grandchildren, Rachael, Jacob, Connor, Ian and Shaun, and two great-grandchildren, Beau and Ose. He was predeceased by his parents. There will be a celebration of his life this spring. Memorial contributions may be made to the Green Mountain Sub Vets in care of Wayne Pickett at 254 Sand Hill Rd., Castleton, Vt. 05735. Arrangements are under the direction of the Roberts-Aubin Funeral Home. SMITH, Garry, of Essex Jct. passed away unexpectedly on November 21, 2018. He was born to Robert and Janet Smith on September 22, 1951. Garry served his country on the submarine USS Cincinnati (SSN-693). He often spoke of his travels around the world. After retirement from IBM he donated much of his time to the Chittenden Emergency Food Shelf where he made many friends and enjoyed giving back to his community. Garry is predeceased by his parents. He leaves his son, Llewellyn Smith (Lisa), granddaughters Scarlett and Fiona, sister Kathi Monteith (Gregory) and nieces and nephew. A graveside service will take place in the spring at the Mountainview Cemetery in Bristol, VT. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the Chittenden Emergency Food Shelf.
