Ran across a photo sequence of pictures taken during the salvage and towing operation of the USS S-51.
During the tow the S-51 ran aground in New York's East River. This 4 photo layout tells some of that story.

Yes, appears to be a little dicey. I often look at your updates but for some reason I keep forgetting to ask and for the life of me I can't seem to remember what made it snap into my mind today but, are there any photos in your fantastic collection showing the USS Bushnel with submarines along side. I believe she was the AS 16. Something makes me always want to say AS 14 because she was in the same class as the Sperry, AS-12. My father pitched a no hit shutout against her in Guam during WW II. He was an SK2 before the threw him out of the service.

I do have some Bushnell but they are AS-2 (1916 -1937). The one you are thinking of was commissioned in 1943 and was AS 15.
Thanks for viewing.

Thanks Ric. Like I said, I always get the hull numbers mixed up.
