(Royal Navy) RUNHAM, Peter, WO2 MEA. Submariner Rtd. Crossed the bar 12-1-19, aged 70. Will be greatly missed by Gosport Submariners Association. Our sympathies to Francis and family. LORD, Allyn L., 88, passed away at his home on Jan. 16, 2019. He was born in Waterville on April 21, 1930, a son of the late Gordon and Annie (Reynolds) Lord and graduated from Scarborough High School. He proudly served in the US Navy from 1948 – 1953 during the Korean War and served upon the submarine USS Grouper (SS-214). Allyn was employed at SD Warren for many years. He was a member throughout his life of the Gideons International, a lifetime member of the NRA, and was involved with the American Legion and the AMVETS. Allyn was predeceased by his wife, Betty, in 2018, and a brother, Walter Lord. He is survived by his sons, Dan Lord of Scarborough, Cliff Lord of Scarborough, and James Lord of North Port, Fla.; brother Gordon Lord Jr. of Standish, sister Patricia Welch of State College, Pa.; 15 grandchildren; and 18 grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Jan 26 at 1 p.m. at the Scarborough Free Baptist Church, 55 Mussey Rd. in Scarborough. Burial will be in the spring at Steep Falls Cemetery. SCHOTT, William H., Sr., 71, husband of Barbara M. Schott, died Sunday, January 20, 2019, at Hartford Hospital, after a brief illness. He was the son of the late Clifford and Helen (Panciera) Schott of Meriden. Bill was a lifelong resident of Meriden, graduating from Maloney High School in 1965. He served in the United States Navy, Submarine Service, during the Vietnam War. He returned home and was employed by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft for many years and retiring from Yale University at the end of his career in 2014. Bill was a lifelong hunter and fisherman as well as a sports enthusiast, traveling to his grandchildren's different sporting events around the state. At softball games, he could always be found leaning on the fence in the outfield. Besides his loving wife of 53 years, Bill is survived by his son, Bill, Jr., and his wife Paula of Meriden; his daughter, Bobbi-Ann Vandal and her husband Tom of West Melbourne, Florida; and his three grandchildren, Chelsea Schott of Meriden and Mallory and Christopher Vandal of West Melbourne, Florida. He also leaves behind his brother and sister-in-law, Carol and Bill Bundock of Meriden, several nieces, nephews and numerous cousins as well as two special granddogs, Bella and Zoey. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters-in-law, Patty Randklev and Judy Slomkowski and his brother-in-law, Walt Slomkowski. Family and friends may call at the John J. REILY, John Dutart, III, of Greenwell Springs, LA passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2019. He was the son of John and Vivian Reily, born on April 24, 1940, in Baton Rouge, LA. He attended Catholic High School, Class of 1958. In 1959, he joined the Navy and served on the submarine USS Chivo (SS-341). In 1963, he married his hometown sweetheart, Dorothy Ann Maggio. They built their home in Greenwell Springs and have lived there since 1966. Early in his career, he worked for BellSouth, but later his career path was guided by his passion for bass fishing. John spent twenty years in the bass boat and fishing industry. He was a great conversationalist, never met a stranger, and he made lifelong friendships that he cherished. John was a proud member of Baton Rouge Base US Navy Submarine Veterans and Knights of Columbus. John is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ann; his daughter, Dianna Reily; her son, Gunnar Knost; John's sons: Chris Reily, wife Joy, their son Thomas; Scott Reily, wife Tracey, and their children, Cayden and Anna Claire; and his brother, Barry Reily. He enjoyed sharing his sense of humor and his love of fishing, hunting, and football with his family. John loved opening his home to family and friends and sharing a delicious meal prepared by Ann. The family invites you to join them in honoring John and sharing memories at a celebration of his life from 9-10:30am on Friday, January 25, 2019 at Kristenwood Reception Hall, 14025 Greenwell Springs Road, Greenwell Springs, LA 70739. A Mass at 11am will follow at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Greenwell Springs, LA. A private burial of his cremains will be held at Port Hudson National Cemetery.
