At random: George Washington Endorsed the use of the first American submarine, David Bushnell's TURTLE, during the Revolution. Following the vessel's attack on a British man-of-war, he discussed the potential use of submarines in a letter to Thomas Jefferson.

As my dear old Mother used to say, it is all in the genes. That was her answer when Doctors, and one or two Newspaper folks asked her how she had managed to live so long without any major illness. She never went to a Hospital until she fell and broke her hip at 88. Before that she had only been admitted to one when we were born. After the hip and rehab she lived for many more years, until she just decided she had been around too long. No medicine and no Hospitals.

I'm 74 and still feel like I'm in my late 50's or early 60's. Then I get up and look in the mirror and realize it was all just a dream.

73 now -- qualified 50 years ago.

Weighed about 185 and wore a 32 waist in my 13 button blues when I got out in '71.  (And the laces in the back -- remember those? -- were tight too!)  Now I'm 200 with a 36 waist.

Regularly (3x per week) play tennis for two solid hours.

Have a cocktail (4 oz of gin) every night, with beers or wines for dinner.

Now don't you wish you had been QuarterMANster?

(BTS: this is a tribute to a certain cowboy who was also in pretty good shape...

Funny, I thought to be a QuarterManster you had to be a qualified ships diver!

I thought all you needed was clean and buffed fingernails!
