At random: Dollar for dollar and man for man, the submarine is the country's most economical weapon. Comprising only 1.6 percent of the Navy's World War II personnel, the submarine service accounted for 55 percent of all enemy shipping destroyed. |

Master and Commander Posts: 1796 Location: Albany, GA. | Subject: NSR - Popeye's Chicken Sandwich I was given a Popeye's Chicken sandwich to try. To tell the truth, I don't see what all the fuss is about. It is a good sandwich, but so is a Chick Fill-a. Worth standing in line for? I think not.

Old Salt Posts: 272 Location: Vista, Ca. | Subject: RE: NSR - Popeye's Chicken Sandwich To me it's like everybody has to have a favorite. When I was growing up I thought my Mother's gravy was just great. When I was on Gudgeon we had green gravy. It was a pale green and it was great. Four years, different stew burners but same green gravy. I thought it was great and as far as I can remember everyone on board thought so also. After getting out and sharing stories people would say things like "something was wrong, gravy is brown" or "no wonder you people are nuts, green gravy would make me puke." So I guess, as they say, to each his own.

We had been there before. It had been cold damp event but the rain had stopped for the parade itself. Anyway, I ordered a bowl of the "soup of the day", a home made Beef Vegetable. To me, it was hands down the best bowl of soup I have ever eaten. It was so good that that very thought came to me and I commented on it. It wasn't just a good soup, I've have had loads of those,. No, this was the BEST soup ever. Even the wait staff asked if I thought it was so. Opinions may differ but for me this was the best. I'd call and find out when they were to serve it again to have another bowl and drive the 30 miles out of my way to have it.

Master and Commander Posts: 1454 | Subject: RE: NSR - Popeye's Chicken Sandwich Fuddruckers is better. You join their Email club and get a BOGO on Tuesday. A half pound burger with fries and a soda for essentially around $10. Don't even have to tip since you order and pick up yourself at the window. They have a toppings bar with enough items to please most anyone.
