SHUSTACK, Eugene Joseph, 94, of Congers, N.Y. passed away February 13, 2020, at the Joe Raso Hospice Residence in New City. Eugene was born August 4/1925 in Shenandoah, PA, to Felix and Mary Shustack. He was a World War II US Navy veteran of the submarine service [AT&RC#4, CSD-162, CSD-62, USS Cutlass, CSS-4, USS Proteus] and was S1c(RM) when released by the Navy in 1946. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Seton Hall University, a master's in social work from Fordham University and also completed further study at Columbia and New York universities. Eugene had a long career in social work, culminating in his time as the executive director of the New York Foundling Hospital in Manhattan. He married Lucia Lorenzini in 1960 at St. Paul's Church in Congers. She predeceased him November 30, 1999. Brothers Albert, Leonard and Thomas also predeceased him. Eugene is survived by his daughters, Mary, Anne Marie and Stephanie, all of Congers, and Margaret Walther of Monroe and her husband, Donald, and their two sons. Eugene is also survived by his brother Vincent of North Carolina. Family will receive friends on 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home in Congers. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday 10am at at St. Paul's Church in Congers, followed by interment at Gethsemane Cemetery in Congers. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to United Hospice of Rockland, 11 Stokum Lane, New City, N.Y. 10956; or the New City VA Outpatient Clinic in New City, N.Y. Michael J.
