Charles William Darron

Obituary

Charles William “Grumpy” Darron, 81, of Fulton was called to his Heavenly home on Wednesday, February 19, 2020.

He was born to Andrew Darron and Marie (Streff) Darron on October 6, 1938 in St. Louis, Missouri.

Grumpy was married to Carolyn (Emmerich) Risch Darron who survives his passing.

Grumpy was a veteran of the United States Navy where he served on the commissioning crews of nuclear submarines Scorpion, Plunger and Flasher. He was employed as a Reactor Operator at Callaway Nuclear Plant from the initial start-up. Grumpy was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree. He also served as a Boy Scout Leader. Grumpy was known by all for his kindness, generosity, and orneriness.

Those remaining to cherish his memory include his wife, Carolyn; sons, Keith A. Darron of St. Louis, and Kenneth Darron (Kim) of Imperial; daughter, Kathleen B. Lizotte of Kentucky; step-son, Patrick Risch of Fulton; step-daughters, Peggy Klick (Ron) of Auxvasse, and Paula Perry (David) of Fulton; sister, Theresa King (Michael) of St. Louis; ten grandchildren, Hannah Darron, Carter Darron, Rory Darron, Ashley Klick, Dylan Atterberry (Charlotte), Jared Klick, Darrell Risch, Michael Perry, and Dalton Risch; three great-grandchildren and one on the way.

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by brother, Paul Darron.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at St. Peter Catholic Church in Fulton with Father Joseph Abah officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 28, 2019 at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Inurnment with Military Honors will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens.

Memorial donations are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Ronald McDonald House, c/o Maupin Funeral Home, 301 Douglas Boulevard, Fulton, MO 65251.

Condolences may be left for the family on this site.
