was DELIVERED for scrapping in Dec 1960. She had been serving as the NRT for the 8th Naval District (New Orleans).
Further discovery is that she relieived USS Porpoise in HOUSTON as NRT sometimes around 1957. From there, ??????

According to Norman Friedmans' US Submariners Through 1945.
She and Pogy SS 266 were the only 2 Manitowoc boats that were decommissioned for the barge trip down the Mississippi River. Rest of the entry is

According to the 1988 edition of John Alden's FLEET SUBMARINE IN THE U.S. NAVY, Appendix B, page 257, PETO was sold to Commercial Metals Co., Dallas Texas on November 29, 1960 and scrapped shortly thereafter. |
