Having served on the second Barb, I have heard many stories of how when Mr. Fluckey was COMSUBPAC and the Barb SSN 596 was home ported in Hawaii it has been said that she was welded to the pier. She pulled no OPs. People were very unnice to those that served on her. Some say Fluckey kept her there as a trophy. As I said, I have heard, because I was not there. I reported aboard in 1976 and she was home ported in San Diego. Looking back, I'm sure Mr. Fluckey would be proud of the fact that we, the Barb, launched the first successful Tomahawk in April 1977.
