COX, James T., 51, of Port Byron, IL died peacefully at his home on Saturday, November 19, 2022. Jim was born to G. Thomas and Sandra (McNeal) Cox in Fort Meade, MD on December 5, 1970. Being the son of a career Navy Serviceman, he grew up in multiple places and graduated from high school in Caribou, Maine. Upon graduation, Jim joined the US Navy where he spent his 12 year enlistment on submarines working in nuclear propulsion. Following his honorable discharge in 2000 he was hired at Exelon Nuclear Generating Station in Cordova, IL, as a training instructor. Over the course of his career with Exelon he held several leadership positions within the plant. Jim was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Port Byron. He enjoyed sports, especially hunting with his Dad and golfing. Jim was a loving father and husband and took great pride in his children and their achievements. He is survived by his parents, Tommy and Sandy Cox, Caribou, ME; wife, Tora Cox and children, Billy and Katie Cox, Port Byron; daughter, Jessica Cox, Jacksonville, FL; brother-in-law, Mack Hebert, Portland, ME; sister-in-law, Donna Cox, Oakland, ME; and nieces and nephews, Amber, Matthew, Tom, Ben and Sarah. He was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Cox; and sister, Cher Hebert. Share a memory or condolence at www.gibsonbodefh.com. Visitation will be from 3-7 pm on Sunday, November 27, 2022 at the First United Methodist Church, 9412-228th St. N., Port Byron. Services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, November 28th at the Church. Cremation will take place following services. DEURINGER, Howard F., Jr., 69, of Wall, NJ, died peacefully at Care One of Wall on November 18, 2022. Predeceased by his parents Howard and Maude (Boutwell) Deuringer, his spirit will be carried on with his brother James Deuringer of Florence, NJ, and sister Sally Sheehan and husband Kevin Rehmann of Columbus, NJ. He is also survived by a large circle of wonderful friends and neighbors who were like an extended family to him. Born in Trenton and raised in Hamilton, Howie moved to Monmouth County in the 1970's after proudly serving in the US Navy's submarine service. Professionally, he worked as a computer engineer for several prominent corporations until his retirement several years ago. Howie loved living near the ocean, and often vacationed in Key West and Hawaii. He was always happiest though when he was entertaining his friends by hosting many memorable dinner parties and informal get togethers’ on his deck. He had many interests in his lifetime, including flying airplanes, fishing, good food and wine. Above all, Howie will be remembered as a truly kind and generous person who would do anything for the people in his life. Visitation for family and friends will be held at the O'Brien Funeral Home in Wall on Sunday, November 27th from 2pm - 6pm with a Funeral Service to take place at 5:30pm.
