Subject: 59 years ago NSR

59 years ago today, in Karachi, Pakistan at about 0100 we were awakened by an announcement over Sirago's 1MC that our president John F Kennedy was shot. It was later that morning we found out he had died. The rest of the day was very somber, quiet and reflective as to our future.

I think we were all surprised when we stayed tied up next to a destroyer and not go to sea. We all thought we were gonna go to some kind of Cuban crisis offense against the Russians who were our adversary back then.

I was a senior in High School and heard about it between 3 & 4th period classes. Teacher came into the room and announced that Kennedy had died and dismissed the class. Still brings me goose bumps.
