Circa 1983 entering Sydney from the bottom OXLEY, OTWAY (?), OTAMA, ONSLOW.
POD was on OXLEY at the time stationed in the Motor Room (Manoeuvring) as you would say on the Sticks!

I can see it now.. "look at those idiots taken up both sides of the channel".. But whose gonna argue with them? Nice photo I will borrow it for my collection if it's okay with you... As for the channel thing I have weigh layed my course on 2 occasions in the Thames to allow a boat lots of channel room inbound and once outbound from Groton. However I did get close enough to wave and point to my "Dolphin Flag" that I fly from my radio/radar mast on my boat. On both occasions I got a wave in return, I'm sure the Con had me marked and plotted in their scope..LOL. I can hear it now.. "Hey l;ook there goes another crazy ex boat sailor getting all excited like a school girl" Keep an eye on him.LOL |

Agree! It's always great these days to see a view of diesel boats underway. What great memories they stimulate! |

Just seen this photo. Onslow (the lagger) would have been going into refit after running for five years. Two boats have undergone SWUP, two are still TCSS9 fire control system sleek undersea stalkers of death. |
