The above link goes to the USSVI (United States Submarine Veterans, Inc.) Facebook page where their members who have gone on “Eternal Patrol” are noted.
I’ll keep my work here going, trying to get others who were not USSVI members. You’re encouraged to look there as well as here! Obviously, there’ll be some I miss and some I duplicate.
WILLIAMSON .. .. .. Captain John Patrick "Jack" Williamson Jr. (Ret) of Williamsburg, VA passed away on June 12, 2025. He was preceded in death by parents, John Williamson and Yvette Williamson; sister, Louise Williamson; and son, Mark Edward Williamson.
Born March 4, 1933 in Quincy Massachusetts, Jack spent his youth in Tiverton Rhode Island. He enlisted in the Naval Reserve in 1950 as a radioman, and while serving, was awarded an appointment to the US Naval Academy in 1951. He graduated with distinction from the Naval Academy in 1955, and went on to earn a master's degree in Naval Architecture and Naval Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He served as Engineering Officer for the experimental submarine USS Albacore, then the fastest submarine in the world. Over his 30 year military career, he held positions of increased rank and responsibility achieving the rank of Captain as Deputy Director for the Office of Sea Base Strategic Nuclear Deterrent. After retirement, he continued his association with the Navy, contracting with John Hopkins Allied Physics Laboratory on the development and testing of Navy sonar and missile control systems.
In his retirement years, Jack enjoyed life in Kingsmill, sailing on the James River, and serving as a volunteer during the annual PGA Anheuser-Busch Golf Tournament.
His passions included amateur radio, computer programming, and model railroading. His love for model railroading led him to research and assist in the reconstruction of a nineteenth century water powered grist mill in Bassett, VA.
