At random: "THAT'S NICE THAT THE ELECTRICIAN AND A-GANGERS WORKED ALL NIGHT TO GET THE DIESEL GENERATOR READY, BUT WE'RE NOT GETTING UNDERWAY UNTIL EVERY TOASTER IN THE WARDROOM PANTRY IS WORKING" quoted during Tautog's DustPac '85-86 Deployment
Very Interesting Question

Subject: Very Interesting Question

At least it's interesting to me but, have you ever thought about Saints (not the football team). I started a couple months ago. Who was the patron saint of submarine sailors, boat sailors, smoke boat sailors etc. and after looking into it I'm now more confused that ever. Back in my early days on the boats we all wore necklaces of almost everything from crosses to saints to stupid westpac goo. But back to the Saints. Seems like we have more than one that was to be looking over us.

St. Brendan the Navigator (Feast Day: May 16): An Irish monk known for his legendary seven-year voyage to the "Isle of the Blessed," he is the patron of sailors, boatmen, and mariners.
St. Nicholas of Myra (Feast Day: Dec 6): Known as a "Wonderworker," he is believed to have calmed storms and rescued sailors in distress, making him a major patron of mariners.
St. Elmo/Erasmus (Feast Day: June 2): Often invoked during storms, "St. Elmo’s Fire" (the plasma glow on masts) is considered a sign of his protection.
Our Lady Star of the Sea (Stella Maris): A title for the Virgin Mary, symbolizing her role as a guiding star for travelers and sailors.
St. Christopher (Feast Day: July 25): Patron of travelers, often invoked for safe passage.

So, I'm confused. Brendan seems to be the guy, but how do we know.
