I’ll keep my work here going, trying to get others who were not USSVI members. You’re encouraged to look there as well as here! Obviously, there’ll be some I miss and some I duplicate. 

CLARKE .. .. .. Reed Clarke, 79, of Vero Beach, Florida, passed away at home with his family at his side, on February 13, 2026, after a long illness. Reed is survived by his wife, Margaret (Meg), and his son Ryan and daughter Reagan. Ryan and his wife Valerie have a son, Connor, and Reagan and her husband, Michael Bell, have two daughters, Irelyn and Blake.
Reed was born in Philadelphia on November 8, 1946, the first child to Hazel and Herbert Clarke. Reed has one sibling, a sister Margaret (Peggy) who survives him. He is predeceased by both of his parents. Reed grew up in New Jersey and graduated from Moorestown High School.
After high school, Reed enlisted in the US Navy and was stationed in Groton, Connecticut, for six years aboard the nuclear submarine, Pargo. He was proud to have participated in an Arctic Ocean expedition when the Pargo surfaced through the ice at the north pole. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and a Navy Unit Commendation. While stationed in Groton, Reed met and married his wife, Margaret (Gross), of Bozrah, Connecticut in 1971.
After his discharge from the Navy Reed and Meg moved to New Jersey and he enrolled in Toms River Community College, earned an associate degree and attended Texas A & M. He pursued a career in the nuclear power industry, in chemistry and health physics, first at Virginia Power and for many years at Florida Power. Meg and Reed built a home in Crystal River, Florida where they raised Ryan and Reagan.
Reed earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering at the University of South Florida in 1997, was recognized for Honor Convocation for 1996-1997, and inducted into Tau Beta Pi. Reed tutored middle school girls in mathematics during his undergraduate studies and volunteered as a hunting safety instructor in Florida. Reed began a new career in his forties at IBM, relocating his family to the Charlotte, North Carolina area. He obtained a Master of Science in Information Technology at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2003, while working at IBM.
After retiring from IBM, Reed and Meg settled in Vero Beach, Florida, where Reed continued to work in programming at Bridgevine, in Vero Beach, for several years.
Reed, always a family man, was a devoted father and grandfather. Growing up with a vacation home in Ship Bottom on the New Jersey shore, Reed developed a love of the ocean and his lifelong hobbies of fishing and boating. He obtained his Captains License in 1980. His happiest times were taking his family out on his boats in the Gulf of Mexico or later the intercoastal waterways off Vero Beach. Reed and Meg enjoyed traveling and took many trips in the States, Canada, and Europe. Reed was a gentle man who had a fondness for cats that were equally devoted to him. In Vero Beach Reed enjoyed riding his motorcycle with friends, sometimes with a stop at the VFW. Reed will be remembered for his love of family, his intelligence, and his organization and hard work at whatever he undertook.

MALLOY .. .. .. John Michael Malloy, a life-long Nevadan, died in Pahrump, Nevada on February 23, 2026. He had suffered from a series of illnesses in his last years. He was cared for to his death with love and compassion by a faithful friend, Michele Baptiste, in her Pahrump home.
John was born in Reno, Nevada on January 1, 1932, son of long-time Austin, Nevada residents Helene Malloy and John E. Malloy. His father died an accidental death when John was a young boy, leaving his mother to raise John and her three other children as a widow.
John attended Austin schools through his 1949 graduation from high school. He then enrolled at Utah State Agricultural College in Logan, Utah to study range management and electrical engineering. In 1951 he transferred to the University of Nevada in Reno where he studied until enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1952 after the outbreak of the Korean War. He received training as an electronics technician before entering submarine school in New London, CT in 1954. John was honorably discharged in 1959.
Upon discharge from the Navy, John returned to Nevada. Over the years he was employed in Western and Northern Nevada in various sales, distribution, service, and construction businesses. He retired as a heavy equipment operator in Carlin.
In retirement John and his wife Mary Anne traveled extensively by RV across the United States and Canada, often working in RV parks where they stayed. They discovered tourism while vacationing in Alaska where they were employed by Princess Cruise Lines at its Mt. Denali resort. In the off-season they were able to sail to many Princess destinations around the globe, which brought them great enjoyment and broadened their horizons.
Later they settled in Mesquite, then Hawthorne, and finally Pahrump where both Mary Anne and John Malloy lived out their lives.
John’s survivors include niece Jacqueline Slabaugh (husband Pete) of Piedmont, CA; nephew Chris Miller (wife Anita) of Las Vegas, NV; Truby Uithoven of Reno, (widow of deceased nephew Jeffrey Uithoven), and John Uithoven of Athens, TN. He is predeceased by his wife Mary Anne, his daughter Laura Ann, his siblings Keith Craig, Jean (Craig) Uithoven, and Virginia (Malloy) Miller, his nephew Jeffrey Uithoven, and many cousins, aunts, uncles, and life-long friends.

YOUNG .. .. .. On May 23rd, surrounded by his forever loving family, Forrest Young born in Boston, MA, on April 21, 1940, passed away peacefully at home. Forrest was a lifelong resident of Eliot, Maine.
Forrest (Dad) loved his family more than anything and was truly cherished by his wife of 67 years, Gloria, their son Michael, son Mark and his wife Sherri, son Keith and his wife Stephanie and daughter Deanna and her husband Richard. He also enjoyed their grandchildren, Keshia and her partner Greg and son Marshall, Joshua and his wife Hannah, Cameron and his wife Amanda and their children Olivia, Gwen, Bella and Scarlette, Alissa And her husband Dave and their children Brianna and Caleb, grandson Alec and also his brother-in-law Dave and his wife JoAnn.
Forrest had a smile for everyone and made and kept friends easily. His smile and bright blue eyes would light up the room. He always made his friends and family feel important. He taught his children how to love and to believe in themselves. He loved his family unconditionally, and his guiding life lessons shaped all of his children. Forrest cherished life and always said "work hard, play hard". He was a true believer in living life to the fullest. His greatest hobby which he shared with his family and friends was camping in North Conway and enjoying the Swift River. He was excellent at landscaping, cooking, and dancing to music. Forrest enjoyed traveling with Gloria, Naples Florida and Jamaica being favorite destinations.
Forrest was a Veteran of the Navy, submarine division. He enlisted in the navy to honor his Uncle Harvey L. Nesbitt who was lost at sea while on duty on the USS Corvina 226. Forrest attended submarine school in Groton CT after graduating high school in Eliot Maine. He was on several submarines in both Key West Florida and Charleston South Carolina. The USS Odax SS- 484 and the USS Darter SS-576 were his proudest patrols. Forrest was honored to be a member of the Holland Club, an exclusive group within the U.S. Submarine Veterans organization, where the core requirement for eligibility is designation "qualified in submarines" for a minimum of 50 years. He was also a member of the Sturgeon Base at Crystal River Florida, a chapter of the United States Submarine Veterans (USSVI), a veteran's group that participates in supporting former submariners.
Forrest owned many businesses throughout his lifetime, Youngs American and the Tulsa, both gas stations in Portsmouth NH and most recently Evan's Notch Motel and Cottages in Gilead Maine.
Predeceased by his parents Cortland and Marjorie Young, his sisters, Priscilla and Lorinda, his mother-in-law Gertrude who he adored, her husband Nazzareno Alessi and their son Robert Alessi and his wife Joan.

LEMOINE .. .. .. Leo Lemoine, age 86 of Washington Township, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2024. He was born June 20, 1937 in Jewett City, Connecticut to the late Joseph and Emma Lemoine. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his two sisters, Jeanette Bontempo and Arlene Lemoine.
Leo is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Judith Lemoine; two daughters, Linda Lemoine and Laura Lemoine; two brothers, Maurice (Sandra) Lemoine and Henry (Barbara) Lemoine. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Leo was a proud United States Navy veteran who retired from the submarine service in 1973. He enjoyed watching Jeopardy, Master Minds, and Cops with his wife and daughter. Leo is well loved and will be deeply missed.
