The above link goes to the USSVI (United States Submarine Veterans, Inc.) Facebook page where their members who have gone on “Eternal Patrol” are noted.
I’ll keep my work here going, trying to get others who were not USSVI members. You’re encouraged to look there as well as here! Obviously, there’ll be some I miss and some I duplicate.
SPANG .. .. .. Norman Walbridge Spang, 99, of Idaho Falls, passed away October 15, 2026, at MorningStar Senior Living Center.
Norman was born September 20, 1927, in Lame Deer, Montana, to Wilfred Spang and Allice Yellowhorse Spang. He grew up and attended schools on the Northern Cheyenne Reservation in Montana and graduated from Haskell Institute in Kansas. Afterward, Norman enlisted in the United States Navy and served for over 50 years as a contractor and service member. He was a Lieutenant Commander and submarine veteran.
On July 20, 1964, he married Clarice Ruth Knight in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Norman and Clarice made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where Norman worked as a Nuclear Engineer for EG&G.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed golf, hunting, fishing, camping, sprint car racing, and watching BYU football and basketball. He loved his family dearly.
Norman is survived by his wife, Clarice Spang of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Debbie (Calvin) Sparks of San Antonio, TX; grandson, Seth J. (Ashley) Spang-Klotz of Idaho Falls, ID; granddaughter, Brittani Spang-Klotz of Idaho Falls, ID; granddaughter, Normandi L. (Steven) Clowers of Azle, TX; 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
KRUPINSKI .. .. .. Krupinski - Michael George, was born on August 29, 1958, at MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn, Illinois, to George James Krupinski and Charlotte Lawrence. Michael grew up in Chicago, Rosedale, Queens and eventually on the south shore of Long Island. A man of many eras, he lived life on his own terms. He graduated from Douglas MacArthur High School in 1976 as a Bible-toting Christian with a yearbook quote of "Jesus." He then would spend his early adulthood hitchhiking throughout the country as a hippie and attending the legendary Grateful Dead concert at Raceway Park, NJ in 1977. He would go on to join not one, but two circuses, including Barnum and Bailey. Later, he served in the U.S. Navy, guarding a nuclear missile on a submarine stationed at Pearl Harbor. It was a vastly different assignment from building the Navy housing he had signed up for. A master craftsman and carpenter, he would go on to return to Long Island and establish Krupinski Construction and work in some of the nicest neighborhoods on the South Shore of Long Island for nearly 30 years. It was then that he met Lisa Troise and had his only son, Morgan Krupinski, in 1995. He would retire to The Villages, FLorida, in 2017, and later to Ocklawaha, Florida. Michael loved coffee (light and sweet), playing his music loud, and being goofy. One of Michael's proudest moments as a carpenter was remodeling a home for the child of a longtime customer. He built more than homes; he built deep bonds. He passed away peacefully at UF Health Leesburg Hospital on September 8, 2026, at 10:52 PM. He is remembered by his son, Morgan.
… and, sadly, an active duty submariner passed. Posted on Facebook:
TERRY .. .. .. Seaman Apprentice Benjiman Terry, a sonar technician assigned to the Ohio-class guided-missile submarine USS Michigan, died after a single-vehicle incident at Naval Base Kitsap-Bremerton in Washington. Navy officials said Terry was found unresponsive at about 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 11, and was later pronounced dead. The Naval Criminal Investigative Service is investigating, but officials have not publicly established what caused the crash or his death.
Terry served aboard USS Michigan (SSGN 727), a guided-missile submarine based at Naval Base Kitsap. A spokesperson for Submarine Group 9 expressed condolences to Terry’s family, friends and fellow sailors following the incident.
The Naval Criminal Investigative Service, known as NCIS, confirmed that it is investigating the case. The agency explained that it routinely investigates noncombat deaths of Navy personnel that occur without medical supervision. Because the investigation remains active, officials have not released further details.
The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear. Reports have not established the cause or manner of Terry’s death, and investigators have not publicly explained the sequence of events leading to the incident. Drawing conclusions about contributing factors before findings are released would go beyond the available evidence.
