OLIVER, Addison Wilkins, 78, of South Boston, VA died Tuesday, March 7, 2023. He was born in Lynchburg on Nov. 28, 1944. He was the son of the late James Edward Oliver II and the late Virginia Lee Wilkins Oliver. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon, and he also served in the United States Navy in a Polaris Ballistic Nuclear Submarine. Addison enjoyed farming part time while working at Carolina Power and Light. Upon his retirement, he continued farming and enjoying the outdoors. Addison Wilkins Oliver is survived by his sister, Ginny Oliver McCraw of Lynchburg; one niece, Lee McCraw-Leavitt of Charlottesville; most recent wonderful caregivers, Jessica Minter and Isis Woody. He was preceded in death by one brother, James Edward Oliver III. A graveside service will be held Friday, March 24, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Jude Swanson officiating. For memorials, consider a charity of choice. Online condolences may be directed to www.powellfuneralinc.com.
