I’ll keep my work here going, trying to get others who were not USSVI members. You’re encouraged to look there as well as here! Obviously, there’ll be some I miss and some I duplicate.
McLAGGAN .. .. .. Clarence J. McLaggan Jr. (Mac), a proud veteran of the US Navy submarine service, passed away Sunday, May 18, 2025, at the age of 76, after a long battle with cancer. At the age of 20, Clarence enlisted in the Navy and valued his service highly and attained the rank of E2. Mac was also a proud member of the VFW and American Legion.
The loving son of Jane and Clarence J. McLaggan, he grew up in Baldwinsville, NY and loved living on the river. Mac was an avid boater, hunter, and fisherman. Mac is survived by his loving wife of 46 years Beverly A. McLaggan, his children Stacey Wood (Jeremy), Michelle Antonini (Ted), Christopher (Crystal) and bonus children Ken (Heidi) and Christine. Mac was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, brother and friend who will be greatly missed but never forgotten. Loved ones will remember his quick wit, ability to fix anything and his ample supply of jokes.
In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate contributions to the Syracuse VA Medical Center in his honor.
MARTIN .. .. .. Myles Dean Martin, 79, died on May 12, 2025, in Lampasas. Dean was born on April 4, 1946, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Eldon and Marie (Smith) Martin. He grew up in Yukon, Oklahoma. He graduated from Geronimo High School in Geronimo, Oklahoma, in 1964.
After high school, he attended Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma. He then graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma, where he received a degree in business administration.
Dean joined the Navy in 1970 and served for six years. He was a Ships Inertial Navigation Systems technician for nuclear submarines during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1976, achieving the rank of E-4.
After leaving the Navy, Dean worked for Homemakers Finance in Lawton and then Tulsa, Oklahoma. He later took a position as Business Office supervisor at Memorial Hospital in Lawton, Oklahoma, to be closer to his family.
He left Memorial Hospital to go into the used car business, where he remained until he retired in 2005.
After retirement, he stayed involved in his sons’ businesses, hauling cars and searching for classic cars all over Texas. During this time, he also loved spending time with his grandchildren, watching them play sports and teaching them all he could to pass his legacy on to the next generation.
Dean married Aliece (Mallow) in 1968 in Geronimo, Oklahoma. They were married for 56 years.
Dean was a member of New Covenant Church.
Hobbies he enjoyed included golf, bowling, billiards and drag racing. In his drag racing career, he received awards as Track Champion and Crowd Pleaser. After he retired from drag racing, he enjoyed building classic cars and turning them into hotrods with his sons.
Dean was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Deana Noel.
He is survived by his spouse, Aliece, of Lampasas; sons Scott (Robin) of Brainerd, Minnesota, and Shannon (Stacy), Lee (Tammy) and Brant (Meaghan), all of Lampasas; his brother, Rick Martin of Geronimo, Okla.; grandchildren Austin, Abigail (Levi) Rainwater, Nattie, Xavier, Xaunte, Xander, Allison, Katelyn, Vivien, Lauren, Gwendolyn, Madeline, Nathan, Presley, Ethan and Nadia; a greatgrandson, Boone Rainwater; and many nieces and nephews.
