I’ll keep my work here going, trying to get others who were not USSVI members. You’re encouraged to look there as well as here! Obviously, there’ll be some I miss and some I duplicate. 

ANDERSON .. .. .. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kenneth Ray Anderson Sr., a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. Kenneth passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 25, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on February 10, 1938, in Cockeysville, Maryland, Kenneth spent over 45 years of his life in Pasadena, MD, where he was known and cherished by many. Kenneth led a remarkable life filled with adventure, dedication, and love. He proudly served in the United States Navy during the early to mid-1950s, where he undertook submarine duty in Florida. His love for the sea carried on throughout his life, where he enjoyed crabbing, fishing, and boating. Kenneth was a commercial crabber, often sharing his catches with friends and family, creating lasting memories by the water. For the majority of his career, Kenneth was a truck driver and owned his own trucking company, epitomizing hard work and determination. A past member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), Kenneth was always devoted to his community and country. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years Marcy Anderson, his devoted sons, Kenneth Ray Anderson Jr. and his wife Tara, Mark Richard Anderson, Elvin Douglas Anderson, and Scott Kerns and his wife Gina. Kenneth also leaves behind his cherished sister, Betty Gillenwater, along with six grandchildren and one great-grandchild who will continue to honor his legacy. He was predeceased by his parents, Nathan and Mary Anderson, and his siblings, William Anderson, Margaret Earley, Sonny Anderson, George Anderson, and Sissy Anderson. A memorial service to celebrate Kenneth's life will be held at a later date. Please check back for details as plans are finalized. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Kenneth's memory to the Alzheimer's Association, a cause close to our hearts. Kenneth Ray Anderson Sr. will be remembered fondly for his warmth, his love of the water, and his unwavering dedication to his family and community. His spirit and stories will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

DILLEY .. .. .. Richard Dean Dilley, 73, died at the CHI Community Memorial Hospital in Missouri Valley. He was born on Dec. 31, 1951, near Missouri Valley, to Harold and Alberta (Erixon) Dilley. He attended elementary school in Pisgah and then graduated from West Harrison High School in 1970. Rick joined the US Navy in 1972. He attended boot camp in San Diego, Calif. From San Diego, Rick went to Groton, Conn. to attend submarine school. During various deployments, they crossed the Equator and the Artic Circle, in the depths of the Atlantic Ocean. Rick was discharged from the Navy in 1976, attaining the rank of Interior Communications Petty Officer 2nd Class. After his discharge, Rick returned to Pisgah and held various jobs, some of which were owning and operating Abe’s Place in River Sioux, worked at a cabinet shop in Papillion, Neb. for serval years, worked for BCS in Missouri Valley as a custodian at the Missouri Valley Schools for fourteen years. He also had the Omaha World Herald paper route in Pisgah for a number of years. Rick retired at the age of 68 from BCS.
Rick loved his family and one of his favorite past times was researching family connections on Ancestery.com. He loved to play cribbage, Yahtzee and Tripoli. He was always a big supporter of Pisgah. He served on the city council, served as mayor of Pisgah, had been active in the past with the Pisgah Reach Out Group, served on the Pisgah Volunteer Fire Department and was an EMT. Rick always claimed Pisgah had the best water. Rick volunteered at the Pisgah Unit of the DNR. He enjoyed being in plays and was an avid member of the Town & Country Arts. Rick was a member of the Chrysolite Masonic Lodge.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Leta Price, Norma Barry and Joy Carson; and three brothers, Madison Dilley, Raymond “Pete” Dilley and Russell Dilley. He is survived by two sisters, Janette and her husband Allan Herzberg of Independence, Kan. and Gaylene and her husband Art Van Wey of Lakewood, Wash.; one brother, Harold “Babe” Dilley of Des Moines; and many cousins and nieces and nephews.

ECKHARD .. .. .. John R. Eckhard, 72, of Lexington Ave., Oneida, passed away on Monday, May 26, 2025, at his home. He was born on December 18, 1952, in Oneida, the son of Robert F. and Harriet L. (Neadeau) Eckhard. John grew up in Durhamville before moving to Oneida. He was a graduate of Oneida High School and went on to receive his associate's degree from MVCC in Accounting. On January 6, 1970, John proudly enlisted in the United States Navy where he went to submarine school and was then stationed on the USS Narwhal and USS Billfish. He was honorably discharged on December 14, 1973, and subsequently served in the US Naval Reserves. John was employed by Campany Roofing in Oneida for over forty-five years, retiring in 2019. Johnny Ray, known for his quick wit and infectious sense of humor, possessed a remarkable ability to make anyone laugh. He reveled in having a good time whenever he could and cherished being around people. Surviving are two sons, John C. Eckhard, of Oneida, and Robert C. Eckhard (fiancé, Kelsey Hagen), of Saratoga Springs; one granddaughter on the way; a brother, James Eckhard (wife, Jean Eckhard) of Oneida; his close friend, Helen Mauria; many nieces and nephews whom he loved including nephew, Bobby Carpenter. John's family wants to express their heartfelt gratitude to his many caregivers, including Rose Musolino, his ex-wife Dorie Whelsky, his niece Linda Hopkins, and Barbara Babcock. They also want to thank the Campany Family & Crew, Gerry Vanderwerken, JK, Stevie, Joe Cleary, and the many other friends for their unwavering kindness, compassion, and loving friendship throughout the years.
