I’ll keep my work here going, trying to get others who were not USSVI members. You’re encouraged to look there as well as here! Obviously, there’ll be some I miss and some I duplicate.
MATTETT .. .. .. William B. Mattett, 84 of Loudon, Tennessee, died Sunday August 17th, 2025 at home.
He was born September 5, 1940 in Carlisle, Noble County, Ohio. He was the son of the late Wayne and Clara Schehl Mallett of Caldwell, Ohio. He was a 1958 graduate of Summerfield High School and a US Navy Veteran, serving as an electrician and diver aboard a radar picket submarine which was part of the DEW Line in the Arctic and Bering Sea. He served as a State Trooper with the Ohio State Highway Patrol after graduating as a member of the 60th in 1962. He served at the Marietta, Ironton, Swanton, and Lancaster posts. He went into Commercial Vehicle Accident and Cargo Loss Investigation for several insurance companies. He retired as Assistant Security Manager for a Cincinnati, Ohio retirement home. William was a determined and meticulous person. He was also a jokester with a great sense of humor. At his core, he had a heart of gold. He will be missed!
In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Arturo Salas of Albuquerque, NM.
Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Jean Fahrney Mallett, two daughters, Alison Pagan (Daniel) of Hillsboro, OH and Sarah Slusher (James) of Fishers, IN,two stepchildren, Amy Morris (Paul) of Atlanta, GA, and David Melk (Dale) of Cincinnati, OH, grandchildren, Evan Knox, Madison Knox, Nathan Slusher, Nicholas Slusher, Julia Slusher, Amanda Doane, George Doane V, and Josh Melk, one brother Merle Mallett (Doris) of Columbus, OH, three sisters, Alice Orr of Byesville, OH, Janis Moreno (Victor) of Albuquerque, NM, and Lynne Jenkins of Huffman, TX.
