The above link goes to the USSVI (United States Submarine Veterans, Inc.) Facebook page where their members who have gone on “Eternal Patrol” are noted.
I’ll keep my work here going, trying to get others who were not USSVI members. You’re encouraged to look there as well as here! Obviously, there’ll be some I miss and some I duplicate.
FARLER .. .. .. John Anthony Farler, age 70, passed away at Hope Adult Family Care Home in Auburn, Washington on September 14, 2025.
Born on June 20, 1955 in Sapporo, Japan, John honorably served in the United States Navy for nearly 30 years; from November 3, 1975, until retiring on November 2, 2005, with the distinguished rank of Chief Sonar Technician (Submarines). In this capacity, he expertly operated, maintained, and supervised advanced submarine sonar systems, playing a vital role in underwater surveillance, navigation, and defense.
In 2005, he married Linna. Together, they enjoyed traveling, tending their yard, and sharing a love of music and sports; especially cheering for the Mariners, Seahawks, and Sounders FC. Known for his kind heart and bright smile, he was always ready to help. He had a passion for collecting coins and a great love for his pets.
In 2014, he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. Over the next 11 years, he faced the gradual challenges of memory loss, confusion, and cognitive changes with patience and courage. Throughout this time, he was surrounded by the loving care of his wife and support of his family.
John is survived by his wife, Linna Farler; two stepchildren, Amonesy Nudo and Jason Thepavong; Son-in-Law, Justin Nudo; three grandchildren; his mother, Junko Farler; and four siblings, Susie LaPalm, Don Farler, Cathy Brockman, and Chris Lewis; in laws, nieces and nephews.
John's warmth and love will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
