I’ll keep my work here going, trying to get others who were not USSVI members. You’re encouraged to look there as well as here! Obviously, there’ll be some I miss and some I duplicate.
WATERS .. .. .. Jeff Waters of Colchester was born November 27, 1943 in Selma, Alabama. He was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Lynn, Ma. He was also a graduate of Charter Oak College of CT. Mr. Waters worked for many years at Northeast Utilities; his highest position was Chemistry Manager of Millstone Station. He was a proud Navy Veteran of seven years, during that time he served and qualified on Nuclear Submarines. Mr. Waters is survived by his loving wife and partner Linda (Wiegersma) Waters, his sons Dan A. Waters and his wife Kim of Jewett City, Mark A. Waters and his partner Ruby York of Preston, his stepson William H. Allyn and his wife Sonya of Nashville. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Kayleigh, Cormac, Devon, Conrad and Marissa. In addition, he is survived by his deceased brother Dana’s wife Susan. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Since Mr. Waters retired he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He really enjoyed travelling the world with his wife Linda.
BRITT .. .. .. Mr. David F. Britt, a 1967 graduate of Bishop McDevitt High School in Wyncote (Cheltenham Township) and a U.S. Navy veteran, passed away peacefully on August 16 in Bradenton, Florida, after a battle with Alzheimer’s disease. He was 75 years old.
After graduating from Bishop McDevitt, Mr. Britt went on to earn a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of New Mexico in 1977, followed by an MS in Management from the Naval Postgraduate School in 1983, and an MA in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College in 1997.
“His illustrious career in the U.S. Navy began with his enlistment in 1967, serving in the Submarine Service aboard the NR-1,” his obituary said. “Dave’s leadership qualities shone brightly, and he was commissioned as an Officer in 1977, later serving in the Surface Navy. He commanded the USS Kauffman FFG59 and the USS Vicksburg CG69 with distinction, earning the Bronze Star Medal in 2002 for his bravery and dedication to his country. Dave retired as a Captain in 2003, leaving behind a legacy of honor and respect within the military community.”
MYERS .. .. .. Frank Byron Myers, age 67, of Reeds Spring, Missouri, passed away September 21, 2025, with family by his side. He entered this life June 24, 1958, the son of Frank and Dian (Carlisle) Myers in Shawnee Mission, Kansas. Frank was joined to Alice (Brewer) Thompson on June 24, 1990.
Frank proudly served our country in the United States Navy on the USS Grayling as a Machinist's Mate First Class Petty Officer. He was awarded with Sea Service Deployment Ribbon and Submarine Enlisted Warfare Pin. After his time in the military, Frank was worked as a radiation protection agent and co-owner of Pirtek Springfield. He enjoyed boating and fishing in his free time. The memories and moment created throughout his life will be cherished by all who knew him. |
