The above link goes to the USSVI (United States Submarine Veterans, Inc.) Facebook page where their members who have gone on “Eternal Patrol” are noted.

I’ll keep my work here going, trying to get others who were not USSVI members. You’re encouraged to look there as well as here! Obviously, there’ll be some I miss and some I duplicate.

KINGAN .. .. .. James P. Kingan Jr. passed away peacefully on Dec. 21, 2025, in Brewer. He was born March 5, 1947, in McComas, W.V., to James P. Kingan Sr. and Pauline Burcham. Jim grew up in McDonald, Kan., where he excelled in sports and earned a full baseball scholarship to John Brown University. He loved to tell people that his coach at JBU was Wally Moon, who hit a home run in his first at-bat as a major league player with the Cardinals.
Jim met his first love, Sharon Danks, at JBU. They married and looked forward to starting a family. Jim joined the Navy after school and spent several years in the submarine service aboard ballistic missile subs. He liked to say he had been around the world but hadn’t seen any of it! As their family grew, Jim left the Navy for a government career that would keep him closer to home. They eventually relocated to New Canaan, Conn. Sadly, Sharon passed away, much too young.
Jim met his second wife, Kim Montana, in Connecticut. After Jim retired, they moved to Maine to enjoy the woods and ocean. Jim began his next career as wooden boat builder and repairer in Penobscot.
Jim is survived by his wife, Kim Montana Kingan, of Bucksport. Jim was predeceased by his first wife, Sharon Danks Kingan. He is survived by their children Stephanie Ragatz and her husband, Bill, of Long Beach Township, N.J., Kimberly Crescent Daily of Stamford, Conn., James David Kingan of Spokane, Wash., and Kristopher Kingan and his wife, Jaime Kingan, of Spokane, Wash.; his grandchildren Sara Terry and her husband, Michael, of Trumbull, Conn., Liam and Sylvana Kingan of Spokane, Wash.; and his great-grandchildren Liana, Giavanna and Dominick Terry of Trumbull, Conn. He is also survived by his sister, Florence Bower, of Birmingham, Ala.

NEWCOMB .. .. .. John D. Newcomb, age 82, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 20, 2025. He was the longtime significant other to Elaine E. (Goodreau) Crone for 27 wonderful years. Born and raised in Middleboro on July 17, 1943, to the late Bertha (Chapman) and Leon Newcomb.
A proud Navy Veteran, John honorably served aboard submarines from 1962 to 1965, exemplifying courage and commitment. His love of boating, camping, and loyalty to the New England Patriots—as a season ticket holder for many years—were only a few of his passions. John cherished his role as Foreman at Burns Sand and Gravel, where he worked for over two decades, fostering dedication among his colleagues.
John was an avid traveler who explored the entire country and ventured abroad, including memorable trips to Northern Europe and, just last summer, to Africa. He will be remembered for his warm smile, positive outlook, and generous spirit that touched everyone he met. His kindness and sense of humor brought joy to his family and friends, and his unwavering support meant the world to those who knew him.
In addition to his significant other Elaine, John is survived by his son John D. Newcomb Jr. and wife Vicki of Wareham; daughter Rebecca Field and husband Brett of Maine; stepson David Elmes of Middleboro; sister Janice Strojny and husband William of Middleboro; adored grandchildren Joshua Newcomb, Ashley Jones and husband Mike, and Shawna Vincent and husband Matthew; and cherished great-grandchildren Chloe and Kaylee. John was also the brother of the late Nancy Joy.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, adventure, and dedication that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His memory will continue to inspire and comfort his family and friends.
