I’ll keep my work here going, trying to get others who were not USSVI members. You’re encouraged to look there as well as here! Obviously, there’ll be some I miss and some I duplicate.
BRADEN .. .. .. BRADEN, Morse Shelton Beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away from complications of cancer on November 14, 2003 at age 65. Morse, affectionately called “Mo”, was born in Oklahoma City, OK in 1938 and was raised in Buena Vista, CO. He attended the University of Colorado, Boulder, where he joined the NROTC, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1960. After graduation, Mo entered the Unites States Navy. After three years on surface ships, Mo attended Submarine School and then Nuclear Power School, graduating at the top of his class in 1963. During his career, he was stationed in California, South Carolina, Mississippi and Hawaii. At the height of his naval career, Mo assumed command of the nuclear submarine, the SSBN Ethan Allen, in 1977. Following his retirement from the Navy in 1982, Mo and his family researched the best location to relocate to in California. As an avid deep sea fisherman and gardener, Mo finally set his sights upon Santa Rosa. Here he began a second career as a manager with PG&E at The Geysers. Mo retired in 1992. Mo may be best known around Santa Rosa for his role as a volunteer tax advisor for the AARP. Over the years, he has helped hundreds of retirees with their taxes through his service at the Senior Center. Mo met Jan Schneider of Oakland in 1966 on a blind date. They fell in love at first sight and were married six months later in 1967. Jan, a registered nurse, was well known around the community for her work with Home Hospice of Sonoma County, Hospice of Petaluma and Face to Face. Jan passed away from cancer in September 2001. Mo is survived by his son Andrew and daughter-in-law Jo Braden of Eureka, CA, and by his son Glen, daughter-in-law Kristine, and grandchildren Tully and Hannah Braden of Hong Kong. He is also survived by his sisters Barbara Albrecht and Phyllis Padilla of Aurora, CO.
DUNGAN .. .. .. George Bernard Dungan, III, age 64, of Montross, VA, passed away at home on Sunday, July 5, 2026.
Born on May 19, 1962, in Fredericksburg, VA, George was the son of G. "Bernard" Dungan, Jr. and the late Pearl Lee Bradshaw Dungan. Raised in Montross, George had many lasting friendships throughout his community and was known for his intelligence and genuine nature.
George proudly served his country in the United States Navy, where he was stationed aboard the USS Finback, a fast-attack submarine. Following his military service, he established a successful career as a Managing Broker with East Coast Commercial Investment Realty in Fairfax, VA.
George lived his life in faith and was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in King George. In his free time, he enjoyed target practice with friends, reading, and traveling to new places.
George was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Pearl Lee Bradshaw Dungan.
He is survived by his father, G. "Bernard" Dungan, Jr.; his sister, Mary D. Thomas and her husband, Dan; as well as several cousins, extended family members and dear friends.
