At random: The USS Blenny SS 324, on her last patrol of WW II sank 63 vessels. One by torpedo and 62 by deck gunfire, demolition charges set by boarding parties or by burning. On several occasions shotguns were fired through the boats bottoms. These were all vessels under the 500 ton JANAC limit for tonnage sunk and not counted in the "official" totals or ships sunk. This is also a record for the most vessels ever sunk by a submarine on one patrol.

The above link goes to the USSVI (United States Submarine Veterans, Inc.) Facebook page where their members who have gone on “Eternal Patrol” are noted.

I’ll keep my work here going, trying to get others who were not USSVI members. You’re encouraged to look there as well as here! Obviously, there’ll be some I miss and some I duplicate.

PATRICK .. .. .. Thomas Edward Patrick July 10, 1957 – May 11, 2022 Thomas was born in Hayward, CA where he attended All Saints School. He moved to Santa Rosa in August 1969 and went to St. Eugene’s School where he played soccer and little league. He went to Cardinal Newman High School and made the tennis team. Due to some great teammates, Newman won their first championship at that time.
Thomas loved teaching ballroom dancing as a junior instructor with Burkart’s Juniors Ballroom Dance Studios. He also enjoyed time spent rafting, fishing, woodworking, and gardening with his dad… whatever was mechanical, he would be into it. After graduating Newman, he enlisted in the Navy and was accepted into the submarine school in Groton, CT. He then attended the U.S. Naval propulsion engineering school in Great Lakes, IL. He was assigned to the nuclear sub the USS Puffer, his home port being in Hawaii.
After being home for a while, he went to work for Sonoma Cutrer Winery. It was during that time he sustained a life changing injury. After months of retraining and determination, he was on his way again.
He had the most wonderful and infectious smile. He looked forward to his trips with the spinal cord group from the V.A. hospital in Palo Alto. Every year he attended both summer and winter sport clinics in whatever city or state they were being held.
He spent time with his grandparents, aunts, uncles and all of his cousins in Hayward. He will be so deeply missed.
