The above link goes to the USSVI (United States Submarine Veterans, Inc.) Facebook page where their members who have gone on “Eternal Patrol” are noted.
I’ll keep my work here going, trying to get others who were not USSVI members. You’re encouraged to look there as well as here! Obviously, there’ll be some I miss and some I duplicate.
BROOKS .. .. .. Brenton Lee Brooks, 78, of Lynchburg, passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at Liberty Ridge Health and Rehabilitation.
Born on November 14, 1947, he was the son of the late Barton Brooks and Dorothy White Brooks. Brent proudly served his country during a nine-year career in the United States Navy, achieving the rank of Chief Petty Officer. He served aboard the USS Narwhal (SSN-671), a fast-attack nuclear submarine, and was a proud "plank owner" as a member of the vessel's original commissioning crew. The invaluable education and experience he gained in the military laid the foundation for a long and successful civilian career as a nuclear engineer, ultimately retiring from Babcock and Wilcox.
Brent was known for his hearty laugh and quick wit, always relishing good times shared with family and friends. A natural athlete in his youth, he loved playing hockey and baseball, famously earning the nickname "Quake" after a particularly forceful slide into third base. In later years, his sporting interests transitioned to bowling and golf. Brent had a remarkable ability to excel at whatever he set his mind to, whether it was drawing, playing cribbage, sports, or any of his myriad other hobbies. He cherished the Corvettes he owned over the years and never missed an opportunity to visit a naval museum.
Above all, Brent was deeply dedicated to his wife, Sandee, and his children, who will fondly remember his seemingly endless knowledge on every subject-and his penchant for terrible dad jokes. He was also the proud founder of the Armchair Quarterback League, running the organization for several decades to bring co-workers and friends together and creating a lifetime of cherished memories.
In addition to his parents, Brenton was preceded in death by his brother, Barton Brooks, and his sister, Brenda Lee Brooks.

Thanks for also posting the Facebook link, and your continued work on this. I'm also grateful not to see any shipmates from my boat listed here. I was surprised by one posting on it of Boyce - the name caught my attention because Chris Boyce unfortunately worked at my old company. Strange and odd typo as he's listed as getting out as a QM3, yet he appears he was a Commander by the insignia, and the comments. |
