I only served on the Left Coast and had no idea how beautiful New London is from this view. I had the opportunity later to visit the Nautilus at New London and took the train from New York to Boston. What amazed me most was how beautiful the scenery was around New London. |

Gil,
It is interesting to hear you rode the train.
I was on a Polaris Boat that spent off patrol periods in Groton.
The multi story red brick building with a gray roof right smack in the middle of the photo is (was?) the train station. I spent many a cold Friday night waiting for the train to New York. Then, on the return trip the train left NY at 3:15AM Monday to get you to New London in time to grab a cab to make muster.
