GILBERT, Jack L., 81, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, June 16, 2007, following a brief illness. He was born September 4, 1925 in Tulsa, to parents, Ralph H. and Eva Cheek Gilbert. During World War II, he proudly served with the United States Navy on board the submarine USS Silversides (SS-236). After the war, he attended and graduated from Southern Methodist University, where he played football. A Real Estate Broker, he spent his professional career in the Real Estate and Construction indus- tries. Jack worked for the Jenkin's Companies for 25 years; he considered the Jenkins a second family. Jack was an active member of the Joyner class at First United Methodist Church in Tulsa and was a proud member of the Cherokee Nation. He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph. He is survived by: his mother, Eva Gilbert of Sallisaw; his sister, Sally Watson of Sallisaw; his wife, Gwen of Tulsa; his son, Lance Gilbert of Montara, CA; his daughter, Julie Magnuson of Las Vega, NV; grandchildren, Lesli Walls, Jim Gilbert, Jenifer Gilbert and Joshua Magnuson; and 3 great-grandchildren. Ad- mired for his integrity and kindness, he is loved and missed by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers please contribute to the Heritage Services at First United Methodist Church or the Tulsa SPCA.
