I think what you were looking for is "When in danger or in doubt, run in circles, scream and shout."

Stoops - 2007-06-30 do any of you find yourselves tearing down the boxes your beer comes in or other similar packages into sheets so they don't take up so much space in the garbage cans?

YEAH, BUT I'M JUST LOOKIN' FOR MORE BEER...

ah----they taught us nukes to count to 24 so we know when the case is empty! hee hee.....Hey...you run outta beer, I always got some and you're welcome to it, shipmate! And I can work on learnin' ya hows ta count up to 24 with your shoes on!

Hell, there's nothing hard about that!  It' pretty easy to count to 31 on one hand.

-- how about FIGMO? As a detailer, you have to have heard that one.Maybe my all-time personal favorite - "You can make the damn thing idiot-proof but you can't make it sailor-proof!"As a civilian, feel free to substitute whatever applies for "sailor" I must admit, big guy, I don't recall FIGMO.  Gimme a clue, please"

Even us quacks (at least us FMF quacks) know FIGMO
F%&$ It Got My Orders = "FIGMO"

FIGMO = F***it, I got my orders!

Originates with Rocks and Shoals, believe that or not. As I recall, UCMJ came into effect in 1948 - a bit before my time but still well within the memory of the senior citizens gaggling about the boat during my youthful days.

Anyway, something about an offense that was not more serious than what we would have called NJP under UCMJ was typically dismissed if you were being transferred (i.e. "had my orders").

The gnarly old chiefs used to grumble about it a lot when I was a snot-nosed NQP and a couple claimed to have been saved by that particular bell. Maybe WARSHOT can shed some light on this.

The military justice system continued to operate under the Articles of War until May 31, 1951 when the UCMJ went into effect. My first (of several) masts was under the rocks & shoals! [from the mess decks] ~

The second part goes:

Hoist a flag and fire a gun, and put the signal out "Well Done!".

And the captain's name was ... Noah, right? Jeez, Roy, I knew you had a week or so on me, now it looks as if it is really a month or so!

I didn't realize Rocks and Shoals was still in effect until 1951 since the UCMJ was actually enacted in 1948 - I had to look that up in my trusty BJM
