SCHUMACHER, Charles "Mel," 85, of Timber Pines, passed away Saturday, June 30, 2007, at the Residence at Timber Pines in Spring Hill. He was born in Jersey City, N.J., and came to this area 25 years ago from Wood-Ridge, N.J. He was a U.S. Navy veteran who served in World War II on the USS Cutlass (SS-478) submarine. He retired from the Ford Motor Co. He enjoyed golfing, dining out, traveling, and spending time with family and with friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Harry. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary "Mitzi"" of Timber Pines; brother, Frank Schumacher of Melbourne, Fla.; sister, Ceil Schneider of Brick, N.J.; nephews, Frank Schumacher of York, Pa., and Harry Schumacher of Hackensack, N.J.; nieces, Lori Gay of Hopewell, N.J., and Lynn Johnson of Jacksonville, Fla.; and many great-nieces, great-nephews, loved ones and friends. Friends will be received 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, July 4, with a wake service at 7 p.m. at the Spring Hill Chapel of Brewer & Sons Funeral Homes, 4450 Commercial Way. Charles will then be laid to rest Friday, July 6, at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell with full military honors.
