At random: ENS Sam Hunter, the first submarine casualty of WWII on Dec. 8, 1941. He was attached to Sea Dragon moored next to Sealion. He was killed by shrapnel from the first bomb hit on Sealion penetrating the conning tower of Sea Dragon. The second hit killed 4 men in Sealions Engineroom.

Subject: Robert Harold Densmore Jr. passes

ROBERT HAROLD DENSMORE, JR. died peacefully July 6, 2007 in Houston, TX following his battle with cancer. Bob was born March 22, 1943 in Los Angeles, CA to Bob and Jeanne Densmore. Bob married his love, Verva, on April 16, 1966 in Concord, CA. Bob was a Navy veteran, serving as a Machinist's Mate for seven years on nuclear submarines after graduating from high school. After an honorable discharge from the Navy, Bob earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley. He joined Exxon at the Benicia Refinery in California in 1973. During his career with ExxonMobil, he served in many capacities, primarily in project management, culminating his career with the construction management of several large projects at the ExxonMobil Baytown Refinery in Texas. He retired in 2005. Bob was the beloved father of Katy Weidenfeller and Sarah Mikkelsen. He is survived by his wife, Verva, his daughters, and a loving host of family and friends. In lieu of flowers, Bob requested that memorial contributions be made to the Bay Area Unitarian Universalist Church Capital Campaign, 17503 El Camino Real, Houston, TX 77058 (bauuc.org) or the Nature Conservancy (nature.org). A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Thursday, July 12, at two o'clock in the afternoon at Emerson Unitarian Universalist Church at 1900 Bering Drive, Houston, TX 77057. A reception will follow at the church.
