At random: "THAT'S NICE THAT THE ELECTRICIAN AND A-GANGERS WORKED ALL NIGHT TO GET THE DIESEL GENERATOR READY, BUT WE'RE NOT GETTING UNDERWAY UNTIL EVERY TOASTER IN THE WARDROOM PANTRY IS WORKING" quoted during Tautog's DustPac '85-86 Deployment

In a post below Roy Ator said something to the effect, that he couldn't believe he said something because he was an officer and a gentleman. I know Roy Ator and can assure you, he's both. What's more he was both aged in the keg and forged on the anvil of hard service experience before he donned his shoulder boards. Those individuals make the finest officers to lead young sailors, because nine-times-out-of-ten they know what you're thinking before you do. The expression,"been there, done that" was coined specifically to refer to seagoing Roy Ators. The greatest gift to any mother of a present day bluejacket, would be to have her son serve under an officer the quality of Mister Ator....Maturing under the guidance of such an officer would be the equivalent of three years at Harvard or 35 years at Texas A&M...Seriously, the boatservice had a good day, the day they handed Roy Ator his shoulder boards. Now before anyone asks, I'm not looking to take Roy to the prom. Officeer and a Gentleman? You bet. DEX
