Subject: Obit Messenger results for 08/06/07

MAYER, Denver L., 69, of Tuscaloosa, died August 3, 2007, at Hospice of West Alabama. Mr. Mayer was born in Dardanelle, Arkansas. He attended and graduated from Dardanelle High School. He proudly served 20 years in the United States Navy as a submariner and retired as an ENC(SS). He retired from B.F. Goodrich with 25 years of services. He was a member of Moose Lodge 804 Legion 115 of Tuscaloosa. He enjoyed hunting but family was most important to him. He liked to cook and was Chief Chef of all the family gatherings. Being a people person with a Big heart, he was a giver of time and energy to anyone who was in need. We lost a dear man and a great friend to many and he will be dearly missed. His parents; Edith and Odie Mayer; sister, Velta Faye Mayer; brothers, William Mayer, James Mayer and O.J. Mayer precede him in death. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Fay Heath Mayer; son, Clark Crawford; sisters, Sandra Cook (Ben) of Atlanta, Ga. and Linda Jackson of Dardanelle, Arkansas; brother, Billy Joe Mayer (Dianne) of Russellville, Arkansas; grandchildren, Steve Crawford (Lindsay) of Fresno, Calif., Joel Crawford (Erica) of Northport and Wendy Campbell (Rob) of Buhl; great grandchildren, Jordan Crawford of Fresno, Calif., Demi Frizzell of Tuscaloosa, Hunter Crawford of Northport and Brilyn Carlisle of Tuscaloosa; several nieces and nephews. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 7, 2007, at Shiloh Baptist Church with the Rev. Ed King and Loyal Order of Moose Region 804 Legion 115 officiating. Burial with military honors with the US Navy will follow in Shiloh Church Cemetery with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church. Pallbearers will be Joel Crawford, David Styres, Chris Carlisle, George Allen, Chris Turner, James E. Mayer and Cecil Jones. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. David Hinton and staff at DCH Cancer Center, staff of Hospice of West Alabama, Moose Lodge 804 Legion 115, friends and neighbors of Romulus, Ralph and Shiloh communities.


STUMP, Robert C., 65, died July 21, 2007. Mr. Stump was born in Pittsburgh, the son of the late Miles and Elsie Stump. Bob retired in 1991 as a Master Chief Petty Officer in the US Navy Submarine Force after 30 years of service. He served on the USS Carp (SS-338), USS Ethan Allan (SSBN-608), USS George Washington (SSBN-598), USS Thomas Edison (SSBN-610) and USS Norfolk (SSN-714). He is survived by his wife, Margaret Stump; a daughter, Michelle Pace; his grandson, Taylor Keys; a granddaughter, Summer Pace and son-in-law, Kevin Pace; his sister, Beverly Auffman.
