At random: "No one has done more to prevent conflict - no one has made a greater sacrifice for the cause for Peace - than you, America's proud missile submarine family. You stand tall among our heroes of the Cold War.” -- Gen. Colin Powell

Posted this before a number of years ago but thought it wouldn't hurt to do it again. Especially since out own Ken "Pig" Henry was involved.

This is the true story of the Famous Goat and his brief tour of duty on ARCHERFISH........and you thought they only dreamed stuff like this up in Hollywood!.

Thanks for the memories, Ric. That was a crazy night... and morning! I have that picture framed and sitting on my bookcase here at the Armed Forces Retirement Home. Have I mentioned lately I love this place!

Dale Ness is member of Seattle Base USSVI but I haven't seen him for a while.

Not one part of that tale is "unbelievable" for any diesel-boat sailor I know.

Still funny after all these years, a classic.

I use to eat in the Hygienic all the time. Either there or the Puritan up at the other end of town. Us to be a little diner on the north side of the street where the Gray Ghost use to stop to pick up folks heading to the base. It had good food an a middle aged waitress everyone called Mom that was so nice to us guys. That whole block has been torn down now.

HYGENIC is still around, but no resemblance of anything we ever saw.  As NORM used to say on CHEERS, "they turned into a FERN BAR". All the places I used to haunt have gone, including Lamparelli's, which was a hole in the ground surrounded by chain-link fences.

My next door neighbor met his first wife in the diner north of the train station. Damned if I can remember the name but he had many tales about it. He passed away last year and had gotten a divorce from the 1st wife. He was attached to the Fulton mid 60s.

I remember you had to climb two steps to get in the door and it was about 10 feet wide. Have fond memories.
