At random: The late Capt. Don Ulmer, USN SS (Ret.), and noted submarine author, began his military career by enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1947 and in 1949 while serving as an electrical technician E-4 aboard the submarine USS Clamagore, he was transferred to the Naval Academy. When he asked his commanding officer why he was being sent to Annapolis, the skipper replied, "I don't think you're smart enough to make E-5 and I need the bunk space." Ulmer graduated in 1954 and in 1967 returned to command Clamagore, possibly the only officer to command a U.S. warship having served on it as an enlisted man.

Subject: Patrick Dale Moriarty

HI TO ALL! I am the daughter of Patrick. My mother, brother, and sister are very interested in joining or attending any gatherings regarding my father.
I happened upon this website and am hoping I reach someone that can provide us with some information. Indeed, his name was Patrick Dale Moriarty and was on that sub. He died March 9th. 1968...I was 3, my brother was 5. My mom, (his wife) Mary Jane is able to travel with me.

Which submarine was your father on?
Which part of the country are you in. That makes a difference as to what services are close to you to attend.

Kathy, the USS Tusk SS-426 is having a reunion next month in Branson, MO , he was aboard her October 1960 thru March 1962. Here's the reunion page http://www.usstusk.com/reunion2017.html
