BROCKENBUSH, August Charles, Jr., was born on Dec. 11, 1937, in Three Rivers, Texas, and passed away Monday, Aug. 7, 2017. Service at 11 a.m. Thursday at Rush Creek- Handley Campus, 6801 Church St., Fort Worth, 76112. Visitation: 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9, at Shannon Rose Hill, 7301 E. Lancaster, Fort Worth, 76112. Memorials in memory of Charles may be made to Rush Creek-Handley Campus. Charles was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was a selfless, giving person who loved not only his family, but countless others. He served Handley Baptist Church faithfully and sacrificially, leaving a significant impact on the next generation. Charles spent 4 years as a submariner in the U.S. Navy from 1957-1961. Upon his discharge from the navy, he worked at Texas Steel Company for 35 years until his retirement in 1999. He enjoyed his retirement traveling the world with his beloved wife. Preceded in death by his father, August Charles Brockenbush Sr.; his mother, Pearl Knezek; and brother, Charles Arthur Brockenbush. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Alberta Joyce Smith Brockenbush; daughters, Debra Brockenbush King and special friend, Mike Holdridge, Diane Brockenbush Wattenbarger and husband, Robert Chick Wattenbarger, and Denise Brockenbush Morano and husband, Richard Michael Morano II; grandchildren, Brian and Juanita King, Kyle and Monica King, John Wattenbarger, Laura Wattenbarger, Alexandra Morano, Kallan Morano and Faith August Morano. DOUGLAS, Larry Gilbert, 70, passed away after a 9 ½ year battle with breast cancer on Sunday August 6, 2017.. Larry is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Betsy Coke Douglas, his sister, Gail Douglas Dauterive, his two children, Rachel Douglas Ducharme (Scott), Kyle Wade Douglas (Gretchen), grandchildren, Ashton Joshua Strohmeyer, Wes Daniel Douglas and step-granddaughter, Sydney Lillian Ducharme. One niece and five nephews, two sister in laws and one brother in law also survive him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Rufus Turner Douglas and Evelyn Kubes Douglas. Larry was a New Orleans native and a lifelong resident, who moved to Lafayette, Louisiana in 2005. He graduated from Holy Cross High School in 1964. During this time, his journey with his faith strengthened, teaching catechism to younger students. He also volunteered his time for many charitable causes earlier in life thru his membership in the Jaycees and The Knights of Columbus. He served his country during the Vietnam War in the Navy onboard the submarine, USS Bream. Larry worked for over 25 years for K&B Drugs Corporate office located at Lee Circle. He began his career as programmer and eventual Director of the IT department, later promoted to a Vice President. After K&B sold, he at 58 years old went on to acquire his MBA from Tulane University, as well as later receiving a internal auditor certification. After receiving his MBA he was invited to join the teaching staff at Tulane where he enjoyed teaching prior to his relocation to Lafayette after Hurricane Katrina. Larry also served on the Board of Directors for Holy Cross High School being involved in the relocation of the new campus construction post Hurricane Katrina. He for the last 12 years has worked as an international internal auditor for Newpark Resources. His position allowed him the opportunity to enjoy his love of worldwide travel. Larry was known by all for his strong love and faith of God, his family and his kind and humble demeanor. He was devout in his faith attending mass weekly, serving as Eucharist Minister to the sick, church lector and as a weekly participant in 24 hour vigil services at his church's adoration chapel. Larry very much enjoyed yearly retreats at Manresa. His courage, gentle nature and boisterous laugh will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Visitation will will be held on August 11, 2017 beginning at 10:30 am at Saint Charles Borromeo Church 174 Church St in Grand Coteau with Funeral Mass following at 11:30 am. SWANSON, Raymond, 85 of Lorain, Ohio died peacefully at home Sunday, August 6, 2017. He was born to the late Mary (nee: Adamovich) and Nicholas Swanichick on April 11, 1932 in Plains, Pennsylvania. Mr. Swanson was a 1950 graduate of Sacred Heart High School in Plains. He served in the US Navy as a submariner during the Korean conflict. He moved to Lorain where he made his home for the remainder of his life. Mr. Swanson was employed for thirty-one years with B.F. Goodrich; was part of the polymer development team who was responsible for several patented polymer materials before retiring in 1997. Mr. Swanson was a former member of the Knights of Columbus and Holy Name Society. He loved gardening, golf, bowling and reading. He was a talented carpenter who designed and built 3 homes with his brothers and brother–in–laws. Mr. Swanson is survived by his wife, Jeanette Ann (nee:Szefcyk) Swanson to whom he was married on August 25, 1962; his son, Peter (Julie) Stodolak of Boynton Beach, Florida; daughters, Laura Stodolak of Phoenix, Arizona and Lisa (Greg) Baker of Jupiter, Florida; his grandson, Alexander Baker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Stanley Adam Stodolak on May 8, 2008; his brothers, Charles, Michael and Eugene Swanson and Peter Krynack; and his sisters, Margaret Semanek and Joan Leonard. Friends will be received on Friday August 11 from 4:00PM to 7:00PM in the Walter A. Frey Funeral Home 700 West Erie Avenue Lorain, Ohio, 44052 where the rosary will be prayed at 6:00PM. Prayers will be said on Saturday August 12 at 9:15AM in the funeral home prior to the funeral mass which will be offered on 10:00 AM at Nativity BVM at 418 West 15 Street Lorain, Ohio with Reverend Fr. Robert Glepko celebrant officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain with full military honors.
