KUKISH, Peter A., Jr., passed away on Thursday October 26, 2017 at Masonicare with family by his side. Peter was the son of Peter A Kukish Sr. and Rose Charneski Kukish, born November 10, 1944 in Plainfield, New Jersey. Left to honor and cherish his memory are his wife of 45 years, Eileen Walker Kukish; his son, Robert M Kukish of Portland, Oregon and brother, Bob Kukish and his wife, Claire of Chapin, South Carolina. He also leaves his sister-in-law, Nancy Kenney. Peter grew up in Middlesex, New Jersey, he graduated from Middlesex High School and then proudly served his country as a Submariner in the US Navy. After discharge from the Navy he graduated from Keene State College where he was a member of the Alpha Pi Tau fraternity. Peter was employed by the federal VA system both in Northampton, Massachusetts and West Haven, Connecticut facilities as a Supervisor in Blind Rehabilitation from which he retired after years of service. Peter was well known for his patriotism and love of our country. He was a fan of the Red Sox and Patriots and loved to follow all types of car racing. He enjoyed being around his long time buddies and hosting family and friends at their home. One of his greatest passions was supporting veterans and their programs. He found the perfect outlet to fulfill his love of cars, comradery, and volunteering in joining the Connecticut Military Corvette Club. A wake will be held on Saturday November 4, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at Notre Dame Church in Durham, Connecticut. A special thank you to the seventh floor nurses at Smilow Cancer Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut and a special thank you to the attention and care given to Peter at Masonicare. In lieu of flowers please make a memorial donation in Peter's name to a veteran cause of your choice. Published in The Monadnock Ledger-Transcript on Nov. 2, 2017

Pete served in the commissioning of USS Woodrow Wilson (SSBN624) at Mare Island. He was assigned to the Gold Crew at commissioning and served several patrols out of Rota. He was an A-gang person and rose in rating to MM1(SS) before leaving the Navy.

He was always willing to help someone. A good man.
