At random: The USS SKIPJACK was the first submarine designed from the keel up for top underwater performance using nuclear power. An earlier SKIPJACK was the first U.S. submarine to cross the Atlantic ocean under her own power (Newport, Rhode Island to Ponta Delgada, Azores, in 1917).

Subject: Just sitting here....

...looking out the window as the snow falls here in the Pacific Northwest. Not a lot but coming in fits and starts. Just a scattering of flakes as the sun is trying desperately to burn though. No hopes of any accumulation for the ground. The big Maple across from me was a huge yellow splotch of color two days ago. Today it has a scattering of its leaves and hundred bare branches. Guess winter is knocking.
