YACKO, John, Jr., 91 years and 8 months of age, died November 12, 2017 of heart failure at Harbor Place AFH in Gig Harbor, Washington. John was born March 29, 1926 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to John Sr. and Veronica Yacko. John enlisted in the US Navy in 1943 and served in the submarine service in WWII. He qualified in submarines in USS Blenny (SS-324) in 1945 and was EM3(SS) when released by the Navy [CSD-181, USS Brill, CSD-302]. John married Ione (Williams) Molter on April 11, 1953 who died July 24, 1989. He later married Bernice (Dunlap) Offutt on August 18, 1990 who died on September 8, 2011. John worked some 37 1/2 years at the Hanford Atomic Works Facility in Richland (Hanford), Washington. He served under several succeeding companies at the Hanford site in various departments; operations, design, materials control and project/ construction engineering. John was preceded in death by his first wife, Ione, and his second wife, Bernice, his father, John Sr., and mother, Veronica, four sisters, Evelyn Kosa, Ann Cascarino, Vera Jensen and Emma Cantando. He is survived by his brother, Frank Yacko, sister, Shirley Christman, two step grandsons, two step great granddaughters, and two step great-great granddaughters. John will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Gig Harbor, WA, prior member of Christ the King Catholic Church, Richland, WA and Parish of the Holy Spirit, Kennewick, WA. Also the Submarine Veterans of WWII and the Tri-Cities Elks Lodge #2755. Graveside services will be held Friday, November 17, 2017, 11:00 a.m., at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 915 Bypass Hwy, Richland, Washington.
