MARCY, Carl Albert, 92, passed on during the night of 12/22/17 in his home in Hemet, CA. He was born in Saginaw, MI to Albert and Charlotte (Beythan) Marcy on 3/23/1925. After Charlotte's passing in 1944 Albert married Ruth Winters, who became a beloved step-grandma. Carl enlisted in the Navy in 1943 and served as a communications specialist [RM2] on a submarine [SRU#134 & SRU#3002]. He worked at Michigan Bell Telephone 36 years and retired in 1983. He was a life time member of the Freeland Sportsman's Club, Masonic Lodge 273 Midland, VFW Post 7302 Hemlock, Submarine Vets WWII, and Telephone Pioneers. Living most of his life in his hometown of Freeland, MI he was a familiar figure as he walked and whistled his way around town. He and his beloved wife of 52 years, Marilyn (now deceased) moved to California in 1997. He retained his independence and continued to actively participate in many activities in his later years. We would like to express special thanks to his girlfriend, Joyce Altmann, for her loving support in recent years, and to his poker buddies for their friendship and many kindnesses. Thank you to all who helped make his life a little easier. Predeceased by brother Kenneth Marcy. He is survived by his three daughters Belinda Marcy-Joines (Larry), Rhonda Turvey (Mark), and Carla Johnson (Michael), four grandchildren Trevor, Alex, Micah (Sarah) and Alan, and three great-grandchildren Mason, Max and Timothy. He will be forever with us in our hearts and thoughts. A "Celebration of Life" will be held at the VFW, 1891 S. Santa Fe, San Jacinto, CA, Saturday, January 6, at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to his favorite charity, the Salvation Army. Published in Press-Enterprise on Jan. 5, 2018


GUSTAFSON, Harvey, was born on October 23, 1944 and passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2017. Harvey was a resident of Pecatonica, Illinois at the time of passing. He attended Belvidere schools, graduating in 1962. He served in the US Navy during the Vietnam Era (1962-1966) serving as an Engineman on the submarines USS Volador and USS Daniel Boone. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m., Sunday, January 7. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Pecatonica, IL.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Eugene J. Barloga American Legion Post #197, 403 Main Street, Pecatonica, IL 61063 or Northern Illinois Hospice, 4215 Newburg Road, Rockford, IL 61108.


WILTHEW, Harry Edward, was born on May 1, 1934 and passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2018. Harry was a resident of Louisiana at the time of passing. He served in the United States Navy on the submarine USS Dogfish and later retied from Kaiser Aluminum after 35 years. Visitation will resume on Monday, January 8, 2018, at 10:00 am until service at 11:00am. Burial will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.

MIDDLETON Basil (Bas) CPO Mech Submariner Rtd, crossed the bar 20th December 2017, aged 81. Will be greatly missed by Gosport Submariners Association. Our sympathies to Natalie and family. Funeral at Portchester Crematorium January 11th 14.30. RESURGAM

MODEN Andrew Ex Royal Navy Submariner. Suddenly on 17th December, aged 53 years. Funeral service is at St Thomas' Church, Gainsbrough on 15th January at 11.15am and afterwards at Scunthorpe Crematorium. Donations for Royal British Legion.
