I was reading a book that contained interviews from men that served on the USS Albacore.
One mentioned that they had tested using different pressures for the MBT blow system. He said that one reason was that the Thresher only had 500-600 lb air for the MBT blow system, which was inadequate.
It was the same as a WWII Fleet boat.
The pressure seems awfully low. Can anyone confirm what early nukes has for MBT air pressure?.

My qual boat, the Rasher, had a 600# blow system. The Skipjack )SSN-585) had a 3000# blow system. At test depth an emergency blow would only displace 28% of the water before the airbanks equalized. Slow start but a hell of a finish to the surface. I believe the Thresher and all boats of her class had a 4500# system. |

My understanding was Thresher and others had 3000PSI systems . SUBSAFE dictated changing that to 4500PSI. |
