Subject: Thursday Obits - USN & RN

HAWKE Scott, of Rigby, Idaho, son of Theodore and Kay Kruger Hawke, passed away Friday, April 6, 2018, in Newton, Cass County, Iowa, in a vehicular accident. Scott was born May 29, 1958, in Janesville, Wisconsin, and was a veteran of the US Navy and the Idaho National Guard. He began his service as a nuclear electronics technician and achieved the rank of petty officer first class while serving as a submarine reactor operator on USS Haddock (SSN-621) and USS Drum (SSN-677). He received a commission as an officer in the Idaho National Guard and served in the Army Corps of Engineers as a combat engineer, achieving the rank of captain and separating after 18 years of military service. His civilian service included work at Idaho National Lab, Argonne National Lab, Epsilon Systems Solutions and Hukari, primarily as a nuclear and safety consultant. Scott married Jody Beasley. They had six children before divorcing. On May 27, 2004, Scott married Debbie Smith Hawke who brought three children from a previous marriage. Scott and Debbie were sealed for time and eternity in the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple on Aug. 18, 2006. Scott loved all of his children and grandchildren. Scott resided in the Garfield area and was a member of the Garfield 1st Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints . He served faithfully in various church positions over his lifetime, including volunteering extensively with the Boy Scouts of America as a Scoutmaster. He is survived by his wife, Debbie; his mother, Kay; and his sister, Dawn Hawke Noorlag (Ed). His surviving children are Benjamin Hawke (Jessica), Robert Hawke, Cathy Hawke Villagomez (Carlos), Anita Hawke Roytshteyn (Mike), Daniel Hawke, Richard Murphy (Trina), Kevin Murphy (Loredana), Ethan Hawke (Selene) and Sharlene Murphy Starnes (Raymond), as well as 18 grandchildren. Scott was preceded by his father, Theodore, and a brother, Chris John Hawke. A viewing will be held at Eckersell Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 11, from 6:30-8 p.m. and prior to services Thursday from 9:30-10:45 a.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Garfield LDS Church, 71 North 3700 East in Rigby, followed by graveside military honors at Ucon Cemetery.
