VEDOVI, Ernest David, 71, died in Northern India on September 24, 2018. The son of the late Ernest Vedovi and Joan Stafford Vedovi, his surviving relatives include his sisters Marina, Nancy, Onorina and Mary, his brother Robert, many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews, in-laws and numerous friends. David grew up in San Francisco, attended St. Vincent de Paul School and St. Ignatius High School as well as College of Marin. He was in the U.S. Navy submarine service during the Vietnam War. He worked for TWA after his submarine was decommissioned and then joined the Transcendental Meditation movement, which originates from the Vedic traditions of Hinduism in India. For the rest of his life David worked with this movement in many places in the U.S., Europe and in India. He taught meditation in prisons and elsewhere, worked in Ayurvedic food production. The major work of his life is the book he wrote with others: Vedic Expressions in Maharishi Vedic Science. He spent years studying and writing for this effort. The most beloved part of his life was living in TM communities and spending a major part of his time in meditation. David lived in Purusha communities in which meditation was the central activity. He had a traditional Hindu funeral in India conducted by the members of his ashram. This writer believes that David's efforts are similar to stones thrown into still water i.e. they make wider and wider circles benefiting the world in quiet ways.
