DIEHL, Charles Anthony, 83, died Wednesday, October 3, 2007, at Glens Falls Hospital with his family beside him. Charles was born in Secaucus, N.J., on November 22, 1923. He graduated from St. Michael's Catholic High School, Union City, N.J. in 1941. During World War II "Charlie" served as a torpedoman on the submarines MANTA (SS-299), O-4 (SS-65), and SPRINGER (SS-414). He was honorably discharged in 1946. Charles was the son of Sophia (Schloetzer) and Charles A. Diehl Sr. Charles is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Dorothy M. (Urban) originally from Weehawken, N.J.; daughter, Debra Ashbrook (Michael), of Oakland, N.J.; sons, Charles R. (Nancy), of Wycoff, N.J., Clark A. (Susan), of Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J., Douglas C. of Bolton Landing, David G. (Krassi) of Bolton Landing; grandchildren, Taylor, Casey, Blair, Ashleigh, and Christopher; sisters, Elizabeth Riechlen and family of Stamford, Conn., and Joan Weinberger and family of Katy, Texas. Mr. Diehl developed a beverage business in 1957 and moved it to Winter's Avenue and East Ridgewood Avenue, in Paramus N.J., where he also founded/operated patient oxygen provider Inhalation Devices Manufactured (I.D.M.) for more than 25 years. Mr. Diehl founded and operated Television Graphics, Inc. in Glen Rock, N.J. for more than 10 years where he provided television broadcast equipment to numerous Super Bowls, World Series' and the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid. He was the real estate developer of the Fir Court Industrial complex in Oakland, N.J. Mr. Diehl co-owned a seat on the New York Stock Exchange in the 1960s and was founding president of the Submarine Memorial Association which brought the USS LING (SS-297), a World War II submarine, to the Hackensack River in 1971. Charles held vacation homes on Windham Mountain and on Lake George at Cramer Point and Homer Point. Charles was a pioneer of SCUBA in the 1950s, discovering a French and Indian War Bateaux with armament in Lake George, in 1956. Charles also operated a two-man research submarine in Lake George in 1959. He was a member of the Oritani Tennis Club, the Ridgewood Tennis Club, the Lake George Club and founding member of the Windham Mountain Club. He also served as volunteer fireman in Secaucus and Paramus, N.J. There will be a gathering of friends and family in Queensbury, on Sunday, Oct. 7, at 2 p.m. Charlie's vibrance for life will be sorely missed. SCHMIDT, Allan F., 76, died October 4, 2007, in Zephyrhills. He was retired from Alcoa Aluminum Co., Tampa. He moved to the Zephyrhills area in 1960 having moved here from Baltimore, Md. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and enjoyed hunting, boating and all of nature' s wild life. In U.S.Naval submarine duty, Mr. Schmidt was honored to serve his county in Korea. He is survived by four beloved siblings, two brothers, Austin and Ralph, and two sisters, Jeanne Whitehair and Byrd McTeer. He was a beloved uncle of Nancy, Elizabeth, David and Jennifer, Bonnie, Jeannie, Harold, James and John, Bradley, Kenneth, Jill and Christy, and the beloved step-father of Michael and Kim. He was predeceased by his wife, Jane, in 2001. A memorial service will take place at 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 9, at the Fifth Street Chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home, Dade City, Fla. A graveside service will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to University Community Hospital Coronary Care Unit, 3100 E. WRANISCHAR, Glenn William, 80, passed away Oct. 4, 2007. He was a World War II Navy Submarine Veteran stationed in Pearl Harbor, and wa a former President of the American General Contractors (AGC). Glenn was a football and baseball official all over the Houston Area. He is survived by his wife, Theresa Wilkins Wranischar; children, Jerry Wranischar and wife Betty, Gerald Wranischar and wife Denise, Michael Wranischar and Glenna Goodrum; 6 grandchildren, Jamie Bordelon, Keri Koncak, Rochelle Wranischar, Justin Wranischar, Nathan Wranischar and Travis Goodrum and 6 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, 2007, at Rosewood Funeral Home in Humble. Funeral services to be held Monday, Oct. 8, 2007, at noon in the chapel of the funeral home. Interment will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park.
