I seem to recall reading the info I need on this forum, however, I can't find it. I plan on mounting some patch's on a wood surface to hang on a wall. Any recommendations on treating and mounting options of the boat patch's (Scotchgard or shellac) (glue or screws) would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance |

Is the wood backing going to be treated (stained, varnished, etc.)? Do that that prep work and ensure it is absolutely dry before mounting the patches.
I'd consider brass brads for attaching the patches, but if you're using a really hard wood, driving them without damaging the patches may be problematic. Adhesive-backed velcro is another option. I'd be leery about using any kind of glue, because there's the possibility of it wicking to the front of the patch and discoloring it.
If there's going to be any sunlight where the patches are displayed use a frame that has UV-resistant glass over the patches. Any framing shop or art supply store that deals in custom frames will have the anti-UV glass or can get it for you.
Nonstandard custom-sized frames are EXPENSIVE; if you're going to go with a framing option, pick a stock size frame. |
