At random: In their history, submarines were called by many names such as 'eel boats', 'plunging boats', 'devil divers', and 'pig boats'. Technically, and by size, the submarine is a ship, but it has been called a boat since its earliest days, and the term is steeped in tradition. Submariners almost invariably call their ships 'boats".

After offering the Silent Service episodes only on VHS tapes for the past 10 years or so, I thought that it might be nice for Submarine Memorabilia© to catch up with our more modern format - DVD players!  So, as a trial run and only offered through Ron's and Don's BBS's, I have the pleasure of presenting our 1st offering of 3 stories now on DVD.  If you are interested please email me at: webmaster@usssealion.com for our intro price (which includes materials and shipping)... (thanks Ron & Don for allowing the pitch!)...

Let's see, the Blue Ray holds about 25 gig right?  - Maybe we can get all of the episodes on one disc, but who the hell is going to sit up for 12 hours to watch it all????  LOL (Donny - I love it when you sweet talk me)

As an update: We've had 23 emails from both BBS's expressing an interest in seeing these episodes being made available on DVD - so it's a go!  If you don't have the info yet, send an email to me at: webmaster@usssealion.com
