CLARKE, George Warren, departed on Eternal Patrol October 10, 2007. George served on USS S-12 (SS-117) and USS Darter (SS-227) during World War II and had been promoted to Warrant Officer prior to the end of that great conflict. George is survived by Rosemary, his wife of many years. At George's request there will not be a funeral service.


REBLE, Jr., Paul C, 69, of Naples, FL and Hiawassee, GA departed this life on Sunday, October 7, 2007. Paul was born on October 17, 1937 in Hubbard, OH to Paul and Florence Reble, moving with them to St. Petersburg, FL in 1949. After a tour of duty in the U. S. Navy aboard the missile submarine USS Barbero (SSG-317), he returned to St. Petersburg where he joined the St. Petersburg Police Department and met and married Lee Walker. Their three children were born and raised in St. Petersburg as he pursued his career and education in law enforcement, obtaining a Bachelor in Criminal Science degree from St. Leo College and a Masters in Public Administration degree from Florida Institute of Technology. He rose to the rank of Deputy Director in the St. Petersburg Police Department before retiring in 1980 to take the position of Chief of the Naples Police Department. In 1984 Paul married Diana, his wife of 23 years. He was instrumental in forming the Southwest Florida Police Chief's Association, serving as its first President, and was later elected to the presidency of the Florida Police Chief's Association. He retired from the Naples Police Department in 1995 after 36 years in law enforcement. He then served three months as Interim Chief of the City of Milton Police Department, helping that small Florida Panhandle department restructure and conduct a search for a permanent Chief. For many years Paul has enjoyed riding motorcycles, having ridden motorcycles for the St. Petersburg Police Department early in his career. He was a member of the Blue Knights and helped to form the Harley Owners Group (HOG) Chapter in Naples, serving as that groups first Director. Paul and Diana have, in recent years, resided in Naples during the winters and in Hiawassee, GA during the summers. Paul leaves a legacy of public service and an impact on all who knew him, both professionally and privately. He will be truly missed. Paul is survived by his loving wife, Diana; his children, John E. (Debbie) Reble, Jeff (Donna) Reble, Linda Reble and their mother, Lee Reble; his step-daughters, Terri (Kevin) McRory and Toni Ray; grandchildren, Darrell J. (Cathy) Reble, Kaitlyn Reble, Shannon Reble, Dani (Paul) Jackson, Dawny (James) Sanders, Monica (Dan) Rouff, Shelby Finger and Geri Finger; great grandchildren, William, Seth, Corey, Brice, Hannah, Holden and Nathan; and his sister, Paula (Al) Black of Indianapolis, IN. A memorial service celebrating Paul's life will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 12th at First Baptist Church Naples, 3000 Orange Blossom Drive, Naples, FL. FULLER FUNERAL HOME of Naples, Florida is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Florida Police Chiefs, Foundation for Education and Research, P.O. Box 14038, Tallahassee, FL 32317.


SHILLING, John Donald, CAPT, USN, Ret., 77, entered into eternal rest on October 9, 2007. Mr. Shilling was born September 27, 1930, in Ann Arbor, MI, the son of John Henry Shilling, Chaplain USN and Christine Peterson Shilling. He received a Bachelors Degree in Speech Therapy from San Diego State University in 1953. He served 31 years as a Naval Officer in submarines and undersea warfare. After retiring from the Navy in 1979 he worked twenty years in the defense industry. He was a member of Sigma Chi, the Navy League and the Submarine League and worked as a consultant with the Smithsonian Museum of American History, producing an exhibition on submarines. An accomplished golfer, he played on his college golf team and enjoyed the game throughout his life. He was an active member of the Episcopal Church, serving as Chairman of the Episcopal Diocese of SC Drug and Alcohol Abuse Advisory Committee and at the same time he served as Secretary/Treasurer of the Addiction Recovery Commission of the diocese. He was a member of the vestry of St. Albans Church in Washington, D.C. and, at the time of his death, was an active member of Grace Church in Charleston, SC. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Angela C. Shilling, of Mt. Pleasant, SC, two daughters, Lisa Fleming of Mt. Pleasant, SC and Kimberly Brown of Sullivans Island, SC, son John P. Shilling of New Canaan, CT and five grandchildren. Visitation will be held at J. Henry Stuhr Funeral Home on Mathis Ferry Rd., Mt. Pleasant, SC on Friday, October 12 from 5 to 7pm. The funeral service for Mr. Shilling will be held at Grace Episcopal Church on Saturday, October 13 at 11am in Charleston, SC. Interment will be in the Church columbarium at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the colon cancer research program at Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, www.mskcc.org. STREUN, Donald W., passed away on October 10, 2007. Donald was second of four children born to Essie and Sam Streun in Mountain View, OK. He was preceded in death by an older brother, 'Ted" who served as an Air Force pilot during WW II. Donald is survived by two sisters, Mildred Dearrington and husband Tom, as well as DeLois Simmons and husband Ron, also two nieces and two nephews in OK., and two nieces in CA. Donald and his wife, Jean, of 55 years were married in Carmel, CA in 1952, and were most fortunate to have lived in CA, Hawaii, Oregon, Texas and Washington before their recent move to OK. Following WWII, Donald entered university study as a naval aviation cadet (V-5) until the program was cancelled, then served in the U.S. Navy, Pacific Fleet Submarine Force until 1957. Donald received his B.S. degree in Industrial and Business Management from San Jose State University, Master's in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of California in Los Angeles (UCLA), with additional graduate work in Business and Transportation at Stanford University. Donald was elected to Tau Delta Phi at San Jose State and Beta Gama Sigma at UCLA, men's honorary scholastic business fraternities. He was awarded an N.D.E.A. Fellowship for graduate study at UCLA. From 1959-1961, Donald was employed by United Research Corporation, Los Angeles, as a consultant in airline and other transportation industries. From 1961-1963, he was Engineering Services Administrator for United Technologies Division, United Aircraft Corporation, Sunnyvale, CA. From 1962-1965, Donald was with the computing services division of International Business Machines Corporation (IBM) at Palo Alto, CA. He served as a consultant to educational and business organizations in Oregon and was engaged in real estate development from 1965 to 1973. From July, 1973 to December, 1978, he served as assistant director of the Oregon Department of Transportation and on special assignment to the Oregon Transportation Commission. Mr. Streun was appointed to the position of Executive Vice President of Air Oregon in Portland, OR, January, 1979, and as President/CEO in March, 1979. He was then appointed President of Golden Gate Airlines Headquartered in Monterey, CA, and Swift Airlines at San Luis Obispo, CA on June 10, 1981. He served as President/CEO of Air Oregon Airlines until the Airline merged with Horizon Airlines in Seattle, Washington in June, 1982. Donald was appointed Senior Vice President of Administrations after the merger and served Horizon Airlines until his retirement in Jan., 1987. Burial Service is private. A celebration of Donald's life to be held at a later date.
