At random: The USS Blenny SS 324, on her last patrol of WW II sank 63 vessels. One by torpedo and 62 by deck gunfire, demolition charges set by boarding parties or by burning. On several occasions shotguns were fired through the boats bottoms. These were all vessels under the 500 ton JANAC limit for tonnage sunk and not counted in the "official" totals or ships sunk. This is also a record for the most vessels ever sunk by a submarine on one patrol.

Here is another pot luck selection for this weekend folks. Track 3 of “Band on the Run” had an unusual photo on its cover. It showed a bunch of escaped convicts caught in a searchlight. Amongst other Brit celebrities it featured actors James Coburn (centre back) and to his left Christopher Lee and next to him John Conteh WBC light heavyweight champion at that time. The title of the last track was used by the Royal Marines who were known for zero tolerance to public disorder on their frequent tours in Northern Ireland during its troubles. Whenever they arrived in the province embossed RM calling cards were posted through the doors of known terrorists and activists telling them, “The Boys Are Back in Town.” I don't know who worried them most the Marines or the Parachute Regiments, but between them, they kept the peace.
